Well after trying two bottles and decanting for 3-4 hours, 12 hours, and 24 hours I have to say that I agree with Gary. There was still noticable heat after decanting for 24 hours and the tightness never fully opened up. I am no expert but I would say another year or more in the bottle could not hurt. I was hoping that the Banknote 2006 was going to come close to the 2006 Prisoner but that was not the case. IMHO the Prisoner is so much more enjoyable to drink at this point than the Banknote. Maybe another year in the bottle will help out.

Great show. I especially love Mott’s reactions to the wines. I think there definitely needs to be an episode where you and Mott sit down together and taste wines. That would be an amazing show.

Currently my best friend is my bed. I’m recovering from spinal surgery while catching up on all of my missed WLTV episodes!!!

QOTD: Without a dout it is my wife.

Two bottles of the 2006 Banknote just arrived. I am excited to find out if there is any similarity to that of The Prisoner. This weekend will be the taste test. I will take the advice that was posted and decant for 3-4 hours.

QOTD: My wife. It’s a tough field though – this made me think about how many people I have long histories with that I’d get behind in a heartbeat. Right up there with best QOTD’s ever.

Nice to see a show where you have listeners send in wines. I just got back from Nap and ran into a Winery called Quixote. Great Wines. you ever tried them?

    QOTD:

Oh man TOTALLY agree with you on the Fleur and I paid $17 for it! Pretty label, major letdown. That’s why I love my wine club picks! Keep on rockin’ G-dogg. Congrats on the baby btw!

I dont know if I like where your palate is taking you Gary, you seem to be falling for the fakie fake fruit bomb jammy wines of CA in the past few months. Good show though, you still need to review Oak Leaf. Im just curious as to what you think about it.

My BEST friend is CJ Morgan, who died this year of a drug overdose. He was and will always be my best friend.

Qotd: My best friend is a college buddy, Jeff. And I honestly think we wouldn’t be best friends in the work place or normal day to day parts of life, but when ever we spend some free time together it just so happens that we find a whole bunch of common ground in the fact that we both love a good drink, meeting new people, taking a random road trip from time to time, and just cutting loose for a while.

it seems to me that for two years you have been saying that “recently” your palate likes the fruit more. it’s not the fruit, it’s the fake that is a problem.

What? What’s my all time favorite friend…hmmm. I’d have to say my Dell Studio laptop. I spend more time on her than a (insert inappropriate joke).

If you meant “who” then I’d have to say my bro Jeff.

QOTD: Too funny you asked that (and last week); I just got back from visiting my great friend from high school in Tampa, who I hadn’t seen in about 5 years after we fell out of touch. It’s funny how you can pick up right where you left off as friends….

My wife of 34 years hands down. My golfing buddies are buddies and I would go on any golf trip but I can go anywhere with my wife except golf. By the by, I am a big fan of Orin Swift’s the Prisoner.

QOTD: An emotive question for me Gary: my favourite all time friend Steve sadly passed away from Cancer just after his 30th birthday in 2007. God bless him, miss him every day. See you in the next life Steve – I’ll have a cd for you when I arrive. R.I.P.

Look Me In The Eye is made by Lanai a guy from Hawaii.

You pronounce his name just the same as the porch/patio “lanai”.
