i love champagne…recently i have wondered if it was a bad idea to have opened that 1996 Dom P. that i enjoyed last valentine’s day with my girl. what do you think gary? should i have shelved it for a while longer? it was really good…and although i am sure it would have gotten better, it was worth it in my eyes.

Like the champaignes- cuirious if anyone else has had the Barefoot cellars Chardonnay(champaigne) extra dry- I found it very drinkable- I am not a champagne drinker that often so it may be just that I happen to like it.

Good episode Gary I will pick up some of these when I am in the shop

  • Kevin!!!!! Where have you been dude?

  • Gary, congratulations on the nominee thingy. Good job. Great show…I love Champagne…just too damn expensive. The best I’ve had–and this was at a Champagne tasting, so I’ll never have it again (unless it’s at another tasting)…but nothing has matched it since: 1985 Krug Brut. Freakin’ rad.

I’ll try and get a NY Times tomorrow…but their sports section is soo bad, so I don’t know if I can muster up the extra change. Plus I’m not one of those technologically advanced types and won’t be able to send you a picture anyway, but I’ll check out the add from the one that is laying around the office.

And I’ll go and vote for you. Good job.
    See you later,
    GO BEARS!!!

Gary, here is a thought. Traffic to this site will increase in a major way tomorrow am, as early as people get their NY Times. I think you should be prepared to rope in a large number of new viewers. I am guessing most people who watch regularly are hooked based on what you do every day. So why change anything?

Perhaps you should have another blockbuster episode tomorrow. Perhaps you should release it a little earlier than normal (or your thousands of viewers will be listening to the great news about the ad in the NYTimes, which many of them are there because of).

I think it may be wise to mention some of the many points which make this vlog so much fun and so well done. For example, drop the line how you always tape the entire episode in one sitting. Mention how long the wines have been open. Drop a lizard reference or wet rock if it comes to your mind when tasting. Answer lots of questions from viewers. Finally, my favorite (as I have said so many times) is the jokes, gags, whatever you want to call them- your quote, “How do people drink this stuff” after tasting the Berringer White Zin may give off the wrong impression, but these, as well as the Carlo Rossi, etc stunts are my most memorable scenes from WLTV.

Congrats, best of luck, I look forward to many new comments from new viewers.

When you say you don’t know where the spectator is on Drappier Blanc De Blancs (GV 92, WS 88), I assume they taste their bubbly at room temperature as well, yes? You always say how chilling wine may hide some flaws and accentuate others. Can’t quite imaging sparkling wine at room temp, but I am willing to give it a try.

  • With reference to the glass episode.. champagne in a ‘big’ glass.

Infact, how often has there been a reason to celebrate with Champagne or sparkling… and no champagne flutes are in sight, only coffee mugs!
