Last night I opened one of the bottles of 2004 Siduri Van Der Kamp.
The nose is over the top earthy, mineral, dirt, dirt ,dirt.

The color is a bit off, and it shows really well on the front end.

Then BOOOM nothin…very sad.

I’m gonna try another one in a couple of weeks.
I was so hyped about this bottle as I have commented many times on it and this is te first Siduri ever that dissapointed me.

Late. Missed a few and need to catch up so I guess I got lucky being this close to the top.

So I know exactly what you mean when you talk about wines that have that “fake wine” taste – but how does fake wine taste come about? I don’t think you’re implying that winemakers are dumping non grape matter into the vats (right) but then how does it happen?

My Question: My roommates and I eat a lot of breakfast for dinner: omelettes, sausage, bacon, toast, scrambled eggs, etc. If I avoid eating pancakes/waffles with syrup, what would be a good wine pairing? I’ve heard Champagne might fit the bill – perhaps from episode #114.
