QOTD: The Price is Right. I scheduled my college classes around it!!!

    My QOTD (for the contest):
When you are planning a special occasion with LizV, do you go out to eat or cook for her? What wine(s) do you pick to drink?

    AWESOME episode today…great shot too!

    Gary,
You were born on the same day as Michael (remember Spiderman?)
He gets Nintendo Game Boy advance this year.

    Here comes my question:

What do you want for your birthday?
What was your best birthday present?

QOD-newlywed game-i would nearly pee in my pants i’d laugh so hard

Gary, my question to you has to do with recommended drinking windows…..and this applies especially to Aussie Shiraz.

Why are RP, and the reviewers for WS so different in their maturity projections, and recommendations for when to drink a particular wine?? Sometimes the opinions are so different..i’m sure you notice this all the time-i would like to hear your take on it, even if i dont win the prize!!

  • Lynne

Tampa Steve, Heat Episode….7/7/07..it’s written in stone. 🙂

    1) Alas, I don’t have enough wine-drinking friends to make a difference.(Re: free shipping til Dec 31)

    2) I’m not a lurker or first time poster, so there goes the Wine Journal.

    3) But I really want that wine thing!! GARY, it’s your b-day in 13 days. If you could have one AND ONLY ONE bottle of wine for your birthday, what bottle of wine would that be?

That question meets the requirements. It’s a GREAT ? and it is wine related. I really don’t know if the answer is important because you own a freakin’ WINE LIBRARY; you can have any bottle of wine that you want, and you never get charged for bringing anything back! (But secretly, I still want to know 🙂 )

PS Not to suck up, but to suck up….I really appreciate your dedication, coming back to WL to re-tape and all. Thanks, Mrs. V, for your understanding. We Vayniacs have to hear from the Great One or we go nuts!!

    Gare,

    Fav gameshow: Joker’s wild!

    Two questions:
    1. Do you share your birthday with anyone you greatly respect?

    2. Highschoolers making wine? Have you ever heard of such a thing in the States?

Thanks for the double effort on today’s episode; we know it was a pain to redo, but it was appreciated! jp

GV, great show. Love the Aussie content on your show as most of the other wines you review we just can’t get down here. My question is: What has been your most enjoyable wine of ALL TIME and why?

  • Rob M.

    Stallion, liked the comments!
Gary, thanks for your continued dedication to WLTV. I enjoy it every night.
QOTD: The Newlywed Game. I always wondered what “whoopie” was. Macon, GA had a single-A minor league affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Now they are the Macon Braves. In the 1970’s, they were the Macon Whoppie. Awesome sports name. Much better than, say, “J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets”.

Great episode! Cudos for doing it twice!

QOTD: I was strangely addicted to The Jokers Wild?

Question: Gary, for you right now, which that you have tried from the store has the best QPR, and why?

Wow. The Joker’s Wild. I forgot that game. Was the joker as scarry looking as I remember (I was probably 8 y.o.).

Can someone help me with wine-cheese parings. I know there are so many good artisinal cheeses today, and I like trying them. I much prefer reds over whites, and so many times, I think to myself, like when trying a nice St Andre, or a Comte, or an aged dry jack, that a crisp Savignon Blanc would be so much better. Any suggestions that are perfect matches for full bodied, hearty reds?

We have talked about wine books- does anyone have a favorite cheese book? A friend of mine has “The Cheese Primer” and I read it at his house. The writer seems very snobish to me. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

And Gary, Lynne’s question is much better than mine- give us your answer, and give her the prize.

Hands down – The Price is Right…favorite game show.

QOD: I should know the answer to this, but I really, really need some help. I hope this question is worthy of your effort, because I really need the answer!! Gary, what would you recommend as a fantastic “first date” wine for the following meal? I plan to make a spinach and feta cheese souffle with a side bibb lettuce and fresh herb salad with a light shallot vinaigrette (I was going to make a champagne vinaigrette, but that stumped me on the wine pairing because I think if I chose a bridge champagne for the pairing that would be too predictable and a little cheesy). This guy has a sophisticated wine palette and I really would like to make an impression. Help!

Super episode as usual, Gary. THRILLED about the NJ Party. New contest, eh?

My question, when you asked your wife to marry you, what wine did you choose for the occassion and why?

Favorite game show of all time? Tough question — I think Deal or No Deal is pretty cool these days; but my favorite has got to be “Match Game”. I loved how saucy those celebrities were in the 1970’s . . . Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, and Richard Dawson.

    Gary,
    Great episode as always.

    Best Question Contest:
Gary it’s obvious – Boxers or Briefs?
It was good enough for an ex-President, it’s good enough for the guru.

All right – Vayner, you suck me into the fold. “Lurker” here, albiet short time lurker. And it’s not even the prize I’m after, I won’t use it anyway. While I was watching tonight’s vlog, my wife came home from shopping and on her way up the stairs said “oh no, that Vay-ner-chuck guy again?”. Quite classic! Even as I write this, not letting her in on what I’m writing, she said “You’re becoming one of THEM, aren’t you?”. LOL.

Either way, thanks for all of the insight. I’ve been enjoying fine wine for the better part of two decades and could only hope for a palate similar to yours. I simply know quality from crap. The Vlog is educational and entertaining – what more could one ask for?

In addition to my first post, I also made my first WL purchase tonight – two cases of the Shotfire Shiraz.

    Keep up the good work.

    Gary,
Great episode as always. Unbelievable dedication.
Anyone who got the NY Times with the WLTV ad last week, there was a big article in there about the Nuriootpa High School wine. Check it out, it was a really cool story. Thanks for tasting it Gary!
QOD: Double dare without a doubt.
Contest Question: If you had to pick one wine to share with your father, what would it be?
