  • hey Gary, cool episode!

QOTD: for New Year’s, I have a Frank Family Blanc de Noirs sparkling that I’ve had tucked way… I am way more of a red fan than sparkling so I’m hoping to have something new and nice to welcome in the new year.

QOTD: Buying a case of Mumm Napa Blanc de Noirs. Yes, it pales in comparison to the wonderful choices I see here, but I will have a houseful of drunk friends, so I had to show some restraint. I gotta admit though, I love the stuff…

    Gary,

You are a rock. I was not expecting to see you tonight.

QOD: I will be popping whatever Champagne wins the CHAMPAGNE SHOW-DOWN (or sounds the best to my taste), when you pit grower champagnes vs. big-name brands in a blind tasting (hint hint).

Have a good trip in Atlanta!

Also i wont be drinking anything this new years. I’ll be at work watching wine library tv, pissed off wishing i was off work drinking.

GV- nice surprise to see the episode when I got home from work, after you posted yesterday no show- thx

New Years? I’ll be drinking the Dogfish Fort, like Eric above, and the Nino Franco Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Rustico; then it depends on what we eat, probably rib eye, so maybe ’02 Torbreck The Steading or Francis Tannahill Mason Dixon Syrah

As for me, a bottle of Ms. Gloria Ferrer awaits.

I knew that Grenache was the most planted red grape in Spain (Airen being the most planted, red or white), but when did Grenache overtake Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon as the most planted grape worldwide?

Great episode. I love Grenache and have it often. Mostly from Spain and Southern Rhone.

QOTD: I already have a bottle of Perrier Juet Grand Brut, which I got on sale and it has very nice packaging (metal tube) and a half bottle of Veuve Clicot as a backup.

I am still hoping to buy a grower champagne (real recoltant stuff) or a sparkler from Loire or Alsace-those I find quite nice too.

If I do get the real stuff on time, the Juet and Clicot will end up as gifts.

good broadcast in Atlanta. Thanks for opening minds to the emerging areas of production and loosening people up when it comes to wine rules.
For NYE, it will be the Aubry Rose from the Thiese book in my hand at all times.

yep, bought the 6 pack and invited two other couples over for a taste along with Gary.

Guess we’ll just have to tune in to Kim Marcus….

Just kidding, we’re actually getting together on Friday to do the Vaynerchuk taste along. Don’t let us down dude!

    Nice Grenache episode…
QOTD: I have family coming over and they do not favor the bubbles, so we will probably go with our favorite beer Orion. I may try to sneak in a bottle of Riesling…have to do a little shopping.

    Gary,
    great job in Atalanta today!

You hit your stride about midway through, and really came across well. Good to hear WLTV is going global. What is the viewership up to now?

I thought the woman was going to have a heart attack when you said that some wine smells like urinals at a carnival.

Nice episode Gary. I’ve always had Grenache…and some other grape. I’ve never had it as a stand alone, so I’m very interested to give them a try.

QOTD: ? Hmmmm ? I haven’t decided, but I was contemplating ordering a bottle of Brown Estate Zinfandel from WL. I learned about this producer years ago from an article in Wine Spectator, and have always wanted to try the Zin. You reviewed the wine in episode #25, and spoke very highly about the bottle.

    Safe travels to ATL.

  • Yep…it WAS me. I’m the reason the Jets lost. Sorry. I picked the Bills in my football pool, cause I thought they’d win.

My fault…and then the Bears had to go and win. Sorry man…great episode though and have a safe flight. See you later. Oh ya, QOD: I don’t know. I don’t plan that far ahead. I don’t like getting wasted, so I’ll have some wine, maybe Champagne. I’ll probably do what I normally do and that’s hang out at home with my wife, or we’ll go to our friend’s house and just have a relaxing eveing. OK, see you later,

    GO BEARS!!

So you come to my home town and I miss the TV show? Guess I’m going to have to start visiting more often. Good show. Don’t think I have tried Grenache’s before. I am a new to wine drinking world and am only now starting to buy wines breaking the $11 barrier. So you’ll understand why the Twenty Row Cab is baiting me. Hey, and this is my first post. So wow. I’m setting records everywhere. Right now for New Years, we have a bottle of Bordeaux a relative brought back from France. It’s 1986 vintage so if it isn’t vinegar, it should be good.
