Gary, the new glass sucks…bring back the playoff glass! You can’t swirl properly in the new glass and it looks silly.

Thanks for the shout out to CANADA!

I came across the site from a link on another wine site…don’t remember which one.

To all those who didn’t appreciate this tasting let me remind you that not everyone is a wealthy sommelier who has access to WLTV and all the expensive boutique wines that are reviewed. For everybody else this type of tasting is very useful. I appreciated hearing tasting notes on wines I could access and relate to even if most of them are wines I wouldnâ??t drink either. The Wolf Trap was a nice surprise and sure enough for the first time I found a wine that was reviewed, that I wanted to get, and is actually available at my local wine distributor. Yeah!,,,canâ??t wait to pick it up after work.

I’ve told over a dozen people about the site but I’m still working on getting some of them to become members. Since I’ve started watching Wine Library TV I have come off as such as wine geek to some people that I have had 3 people tell me in the last 2 weeks that I should get into the wine business. I had to explain that the reason I know so much about wine/wine tasting is WLTV.

    Cheers!

You definitely got my attention with your reference to artificial flavors. Are big producers actually adding artificial flavors, colors, extracts, aromas to their wines without including that fact on the label? If not, how do you account for those notes? As a beerhead turned wine enthusiast, ingredients are a pretty fundamental concern. Thanks.

    QOTD1 – typical google find

About two years ago I searched for an specific wine on Google. Wine Library showed up with the best price.(29.00 vs 37.00 at the local store) I ordered 6 bottles and it arrived in Little Rock in 3 days. I have ordered much more since then. WLTV makes me want to try wines that I would never consider otherwise.

    Gary,
Please accept my sympathy for having endured this torture to your palate.

Great episode for the beginners. Most of us wouldnâ??t go close to these wines save for Columbia Crest.

    QOTD:

I saw ad for WL on NJ Turnpike and decided to look further. I am watching WLTV since episode 1.

I keep telling about WL to all my friends and relatives, although most of my relatives not into wine, which brings me to my question:

My father was never a wine drinker. He never liked alcohol in any form.
Now he likes kosher wines based on concord grape-sugary syrup basically.

I tried several times to introduce him to real wines but he didnâ??t like them.
Please suggest a transition wine that will help to turn him towards nice reds and whites.

GV I’m disappointed in your reaction to the Columbia Crest & even concerned with the condition of your palate. We were forced to endure 2 bottles of that for New Years Eve & it was torture. You should really take some time off. Perhaps you should drink water over the weekend while in Mass/RI.

    1) I believe that winezap bought me to you.
    2) Everyone at work.
    3) See #2

Gary I found Wine Library by doing a Yahoo search for a wine. Checked out your site and saved it to my favorits. I worked late one day and played maybe a dozed of WLTV shows. I have been telling friends and familiy about WLTV ever since. Haven’t turned anyone into a Vayniac but they have bought a couple of cases from you.

Found the website on line by doing a wine search, went to the old store and bought a case of 2000 Crognolo. I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve told 20 to 30 people over the past three years. Anyone who drinks wine.

    Gary,
How about restocking that Wolf Trap??
You should do an episode about unusual tasting wines (read: soy sauce, gym clothes, bacon, etc). They might not be something id bring to a party with non-wine drinkers, but its fun to enjoy them with those who have had enough of the mundane and want a change.

    QOD:
    1.Been here since ep #1
2.Referred my friend Wilson, but dont know his SN…he is addicted now 🙂

QOD: I was already a WL fan being from the area and was on the mailing list so that is how I found out about WLTV. I have been watching since the very beginning and obviously am still here so that says something. I referred a few of my wine drinking buddies to WLTV (although I can’t say for sure what their blog names are………….)

Keep up the good work Gary. Good luck up in MA this weekend. I sent my friend who lives in Providence an email for a restaurant suggestion so when she gets back to me, I will shoot you an email.

  • Ken

    Gary,

I donâ??t know if you are still taking requests for wines to be featured on WLTV. If you are, here are my suggestions with the product codes. Iâ??d like to see a show on either budget Italians (

    Gary,

My mom spent some time in Providence and is very high on Al Forno.

Check it out. Go G-Men and J-E-T-S. Boston and Philly fans are collectively the worst.

    Gary,

I would like to see a show on budget white wines that are similar in taste to my favorite one. Remember what that is? 🙂

    QOD:

    1. I shopped at your old store every time I was visiting the Short Hills Mall. Placed my first online order in April 2004 when you offered free shipping.

    2. I shared WLTV with hubby. He was initially resistant. Made fun of me watching. But I catch him watching it. I also tell anyone I meet that is interested in wine.

QOTD – saw your ad in Wine Spectator, figured I would give it a whirl. I have only told my girlfriend, who watches it every once-in-a-while and to mu assistant at the store I run. Hopefully he picks up on some stuff so I don’t have to write off bottles for him to taste. 🙂 I have mentioned it casually to other people but they think I am nuts for watching it on the comp. Oh well, love the show. Keep up the good work.

Welcome to Providence! Best dining experience? My house, baby! I’ll unscrew the finest bottle from my cellar for you and the family.

If that scares you a bit too much, then:

Mill’s Tavern – great dining experience
Hemenway’s – if you want seafood
Capital Grille – people seem to like it, but my experience has been so-so

Ideally, you should probably head to Federal Hill for the overall experience. Great Italian food followed by a desert place for some gelato. If you’re not looking to walk around and soak in the neighborhood, I would suggest Mill’s Tavern.

Any chance some southern New England Vayniacs can meet up with you for a toast?

QOD: Am a WL devotee and have followed you from Epi #1.Have told everyone to watch to improve their wine knowledge and have a laugh.
A tube for a stem on a tasting glass does not cut it. Sorry.

    QOD #1: Wall Street Journal
QOD #2: I have told a gazillion people (or thereabouts)

In Providence, if you’re looking for a totally elegant evening with your mom and dad, try Agora in The Westin Hotel, One West Exchange St, 401 598-8000.
Hope you have something to celebrate! GO J-E-T-S!

Also, that new glass looks a little weird..how can you properly swirl the wine, when it’s welled into the bottom of the ‘stem’?

    Gary,
I was a budding customer of the old store with the 2 foot aisles that you had to wait for other shoppers to vacate before you could enter each aisle!!! Think I found that by searching for an online place to get wine from the fingerlakes NY state region and Yahoo searched out Winelibrary.com. Realized it was in Springfield, where I worked for 15 years at the amazing Autoland!!(UGH!!) Had a prefered customer card on my keychain, but never realized what it was for? Joined the mailing list at some time, but didn’t see Winelibrary TV until about episode 60.
I have referred Winelibrary TV to anyone at my job who I know loves wine, and anyone who I know can appreciate good entertainment.
