  • Love the tasting out of the Simpsons glass. One drawback, can’t see the color of the wine…D’OH!

    Love any wines that are under 10 bones. Will be in tomorrow to try the Ercavio.

    Gary,
    I agree with some of the other Vayniacs. Who cares what kind of glass you use. That may be the problem with some “oenophiles”: too pretentious. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Reidel glasses. But hacking on you because of the type of glass is silly.

    Thanks for the rec for the under $10 wines. After buying the “slightly” pricier brunello, amarone and champagne, it’s nice to have a low cost choice that you recommend.

    QOTD: Favorite Burger: Angus Beef, blue cheese, bacon, lettuce tomato, touch of mayo and ketchup, Poppyseed Kaiser roll. YUM

    By the way, I make THE BEST chicken wings there are, and have an awesome blue cheese dip to go with them. If you ever get down to NC, you have a standing invite.

    Go Jets! I’m a Red Sox fan and would be a Pats fans if Mr. Kraft hadn’t used CT and the city of Hartford to get his stadium. A Jets win will make for better listing on 660 WFAN over the next week, but I’m a little worried. I do hope Gary keeps his cloths on. He sounded as serious as when he proposed the playoff beard. Haha. I’ll be willing to start a “frosted plate glass” fund if he must do a show sans clothing. I don’t want WLTV to end because Gary wound up in jail.
    QOTD: Not the pan fried sour cream and ketchup on toasted wheat bread burger i had tonight. P) The best burger I’ve eaten was at Long Trail Brewery in VT. I don’t even remember what was on it, but it was GOOD!

    TOP 60? C’mon baby!

    QOTD: Roast a head of garlic. Mix mashed garlic with 1/2 cup mayo and juice of 1/2 lemon. Lots of pepper. Give it an hour to flave up. Slather all over a medium rare Kobe burger done ON THE STINKIN’ GRILL! Pickles. Gotta have pickles. Pickles layered on the bottom AND TOP. Big onion bun, slightly toasted ON THE STINKIN’ GRILL.     you whipped that simpson’s cup out and i almost died laughing!!! that is what i LOVE about this show!! get up on that winebox anytime and set those winesnobs straight. i personally would have chosen one of the star wars glasses from mcdonalds circa 1977 but that’s my stemware choice.:) as for the jets, they have no shot against the P-A-T-S!! have a good time at the game though.

    Love the cup today. However, I find that the Hans Solo collectible cup is shaped better to evaluate the nose of a wine.

    QOTD: In-n-Out Burger’s Double Double (Animal Style) with fries. Wine Guy, if you’ve never had an In-n-Out Burger, you need to try one during your trip to Cali. Unfrickin’ believable.

    Fav burger: There’s a place in Vegas called Burger Bar. It’s in the Mandalay shops between Mandalay Bay and Luxor. Anyone who loves burgers must go there. You can get anything on your burger, and they have a $50 Kobe beef burger if you are so inclined. When I go there, my fav is the angus beef with jalepeno bacon, cheddar cheese, and avocado.

    Bid on eBay is up to $130 and still 9 days to go … nice idea giving the money to charity.

    I do not care what glass you use but I have to tell everyone, if people have never tried a good glass it really is a trip. I don’t see much difference in the taste other than how the smell contributes to that but I just got some good Bordeaux glasses and the nose you get on a nice fragrant red compared to drinking out of say a standard white wine glass (which is what we used to use for everything) is amazing. I always stuggled to find those subtle smells but with the right glass it is a lot easier because the nose is so much more intense.

    QOD: my local pub restaurant just put sliders on their menu, not the thin dull patties you get at say a White Castle but fresh plump juicy little burgers, and because they give you three small ones somehow it just kicks up the enjoyment factor … not sure why but I really like it

I don’t mind the beard, don’t care about the funky glass, (But I do wonder how you get the inside of the stem clean 🙂 ) There have been many times in my life when I drank wine out of plastic, styrofoam and cups of other materials. Who gives a rip!?

    Have fun this weekend dining, wining and hopefully winning, not Whining. Green is my new temporary favorite color!

    Nice comeback wrt the wine glass. That’s what I luv about WLTV.

    I like a good sirloin buger, made with whole fillet of sirloin (preferably prime), cut, then put thru the food processor with kosher (or sea) salt. Medium cooked on a grill. Served on a potato bun with a little ketchup. Bacon and cheese ain’t bad either. Pickles and fries on the side. I luv pickles especially the sour garlic ones. Then wash it down with an ice cold beer like a stout. Heavenly!
