    I tagged Domaine de Chevalier as it is my choice of mose underappreciated in Bordeaux. I had the 1970 and it was amazing!

    maybe I’m missing something here, but it seems more useful to tag aspects of the wine rather than the label. The ultimate usage would be to be able to search, “old world”, “pepper”, and “strawberry jam” and get a list of wines that have all three tags in common.

  • I think the idea is excellent. A lot of people may have an easier time remembering the pictures or some aspect of the label of a wine they enjoyed, rather than the actual name. This provides a great opportunity for a person to possibly fine a wine they thougth they’d never see again.

    I guess the sav blanc is an exception to the rule – generally speaking, there is an inverse ratio between the presence of cartoon animals and the quality of the juice. My favorite similar exception is Flying Goat – they make an awesome cali pinot. Goats du Roam is also apparently respectable so maybe there’s a goat exception out there somewhere….

    This is an interesting episode for me because my bias is usually that if it has a funny or creative wine label, then the wine must suck and they’re trying to compensate the terrible junk in the bottle i.e. yellowtail (cute label) versus ridge (the wine speaks for itself).

    Gary, I was so happy to see you back to being yourself today. I just did a marathon session of watching the last 7 WLTV episodes (have been so busy didn’t have time to watch).

    Love that Ian picked today’s wines. I met Ian in person yesterday, really terrific guy! I’m looking forward to his Burgundy picks for me.

    One very, very rare negative comment I have to make Gary . . . can’t believe you gave into peer pressure and are not tasting from the tasting glass you wanted to do “all future tastings with”. One of the things I love about you and WLTV is that you don’t care what other say or think, and you march to your own drum. I was saddened to see you let the haters out there dictate your glass choice.

    Really loved having you “back” today!!!
