Impressive for the wine to hold up…QOTD-long time ago, maybe being a 90 day wonder in Mgmt Trainee program in the Banking business and becoming a Asst Bank Manager…glad I am out of that business… http://www.winelx.com

Yeah I gotta go with e mojo on this one and mention that the best part of 1982 was being conceived.

Is locker room armpit/Dunkin Donuts coffee as desirable as cat piss?

QOTD: 3 years old, Saturday cartoons, Sundays dinners at both grandparents houses. I’d give it all to go back.

    Gary,

Sorry, but I have to say something about how you were shaking the ’82 Pontet around. I have had many old bottles including a 1928. It was always handled with care because of the sediments that can kick up from rough handling. Sediment floating around the wine would have made the wine taste not as smooth as it should be.

Still watching everyday from Hong Kong.

Nice show. LOL. Maybe you should have taped this one first. I loved how you gave it air.
QOTD: 1982 was into my 2nd year in the service. I started BUDS training. WOW. My life was so much simpler then.

QOTD – I’d have to say the best part of 1982 was not being born yet for all the terrible music that came out. Although thriller is pretty amazing.

GREATEST SHOW EVER…..it may just be! I think the Iron Man was getting a little loopey after all those sips ands spits…but you went for it and scored a 98 with me! But why spit after your third episode…on a Friday…before getting on a plane??? I understand not decanting, afterall it was the third ep. But do you think it might have been an 89 or 90 with 3 or 4 hrs in the decanter??
QOTD – 1982 was the year I left college with my masters in engingeering, and was one year after my introduction to wine via a wine tasting course in the Cornell Uiversity School of Hotel Administration! Back then, my Packers were coached by Bart Starr, and barely got into the playoffs in the strike shortened season, before losing to Dallas.
    Great show.

Love the episode. You just saved me some serious money. I have a pontet Canet vertical and have been looking at some older vintages for a vertical tasting. I was looking for the 82 but will now focus on the 61, 1986 etc.

For me 1982 was Millburn HS graduation and trying (unsuccessfully) to buy beer at Mill-Spring Liquorsâ?¦ which was bought the following year by some Russian family. I donâ??t think they ever made anything of the place.

    Great episode as always!

1982 I was graduating from H.S. Also, I thought great beer (if you are allowed to call it that) was Bud, and great wine came from gallon jugs (something I wouldn’t even use for cooking now a days.) 10 years later I was brewing my own beer, and experimenting with different styles. Pouilly Fuisse white burgandy was very trendy.

Ah, the great days of Bradshaw and AJ Dewy (spelling?)

QOTD: The greatest thing about 1982 was being a cheerleader and dating the captain of the football team. Such a cliche! I was too young to drink wine at the time, but did manage to sneak a six pack into a slumber party.

In 1982 I graduated from Air Assault School at beautiful Ft. Campbell, KY…home of the mighty 101st Airborne Division. At that time the only wine that touched my lips was for Holy Communion! I was more of a cheap beer lad back then…

Do you feel the need to rub in the fact that you get the oppurtunity to drink great wines all the time? “the many ’82s I have had.” Got it. I’m just jealous that’s all.
QOTD: ’82, my sister was the new years baby; and Dark Crystal came out. One of Jim Henson’s best movies and one of my favorite movies growing up.

Fun episode, suprised that the wine has held up so well considering the storage. I have been under the impression that storage is so important, which I still assume to be true, but to a lesser degree. While watching past episodes I heard about a storage episode. Did this ever happen or will it soon?

Kind of disappointing episode. A 25 year old Bordeaux deserves a little more respect and should have been decanted for a few hours. But you know this already 😉 Maybe next time you could open it in front of the camera, pour it, talk about it’s profile, hit PAUSE, come back in a few hours, and smell/taste it again.

    QOTD – Bad hair.
