Erik…get the Baby Bargains book…I think that’s the literal name, but it’s a thin (width) but very thick book that has TONS of product reviews for every kind of product you ‘need to buy’…as a new Dad, it’s definately challenging to find the cost effective stuff.

Also…Pampers Swadlers….just spend the money on ’em, you’ll be happy…we tried cheap diapers and poop went everywhere! 🙂

oh, and a wipe warmer and a bottle warmer. those are key….and a sound machine for “waves” or whatever…helps ’em go to sleep.

Erik- Before my daughter was born 10 years ago, I received all sorts of advice and read a lot of articles. One study I read has stayed with me to this day and I believe it is profound. The study made the mom neutral (the control) and measured the baby girl’s development over the first five years of her life based on the amount of time per day that her dad spent with her during the first year of her life. The results showed that the more time dad spent with daughter in the first year markedly increased the girl’s poise, self-confidence, public speaking ability, sociability, and traits of that nature. I am not a scientist of any kind, but it made sense to me, so go all out in the first year…you will enjoy it as much as your daughter. Congrats!!
