thanks for the Beaucastel…i asked for it for your blind tasting last week!!!
love that wine, esp the ’98

  • Gary, love the cheeses. Took some to a Shiraz vs. Zinfandel tasting with some friends this weekend. I’ve been obsessed with trying Robiola since you had it with Brunello several episodes ago. Finally found it at The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills, of course. Blog post here: http://www.tagworld.com/brian1970/World/MyWeb.aspx?page=8280b035-5f9f-4de6-9f88-054f04308dd5

Anyway, what was this one? Peccorino? How about a cheese link?

You know what would be an interesting tasting? How about a vertical? Maybe not every year, but 3 or 4 vintages spaced across 10-15 years. Let’s see firsthand how an ageworthy wine does, as time goes by.

Another great episode! I thought of picking up some of the Beringer, but not sure however at the price it might not be a bad risk.

GARY I HOPE YOU SEE THIS MESSAGE
Since you’re calling for lurkers to make a comment, here’s mine – YOU’RE HOT! You’re knowledge, charisma, attitude…if you were wine you’d be in the 90’s for me. Thanks for another episode, and for keeping the show alive and full of energy.

3 out of 4 of the wines should not have been touched for another 3 years at least, but it seemed like your palate was having a bad day. When one of the best Chateauneufs, one of the best Barbarescos and one of the best Rieslings aren’t doing it for you, I’d wonder what is going on.

Have a great trip to Bordeaux!

Gary, my cholesterol is over 300. Same for every woman in my family, and my mother is 83. You have to die of something, and don’t you think all the red wine is cleaning out those arteries? Chill, man, and eat that cheese!

Great episode, GV. Fine take on the Ch. du Pape.
On a personal note: What a remarkable fellow you are. It is just an absolute pleasure watching you take such delight in the finer things in life. Sublime work you have.
My son, soon off to university, also has an infectious enthusiasm for good wine and cheese (yes, he’s under 21, but we’re a francophile household…so shoot me).
Your joie de vivre is just wonderful.

It makes sense to me too G-Man. Rockin’ the Gaja and the Beaucastel, pure jealousy is now corsing through my veins. I despise you G-Man.

QOTD:You need help? Call up Michel Roland, I’m sure he’s not busy. He could provide valuable counsel, he’s done one or two things in Bordeaux.

Qod – How about a bar graph illustrating episode 1-199 general comments to lurker ratio and if we can surpass the all time daily high of lurker shout-outs, you offer free shipping. Just give them a target number to bring them out…like a telethon! Make any sence? Either way good luck and safe travels!

  • Good presentation of the Gaja. You have to spend $125 on something some time.

OK, instead of “where’s the beef” I will ask “where’s the cheese” link? Love the stuff but can’t find the link.

QOTD: There’s a Bordeaux I adore and wondered if you’ve heard of it or if possible, peruse a few bottles or case futures for me. It’s a gargista named “Reignac.” Their 2000 is one of my fav wines.

Have fun in Bordeaux and follow in the footsteps of one of our founding fathers, Thos Jefferson.

    Merci beaucoup!

  • I admit it, I am a lurker. I discovered you last year; around epsisode 60. I actually linked you from my own web-site so more people can learn of you. You are an inspiration to learn more about wines. I am mostly into Italian wines this year, because I am planning a trip to Florence in Oct 2007. So, the Barbaresco was interesting, though it is from Piedmont. I love their Barolo. I’m very interested in trying the cheese. I hope you will stop by and sign my guestbook Gary. It would be a great honor and just plain AWESOME!

I would like to know why and how you determine how long to decant your wines. It seems each of your espisodes are two to four hours for wines. Would love to know your philosophy behind that reasoning. Thanks. Keep up the great shows!

  • Hey Gary,

Havn’t posted in awhile, have been really busy!!! I love all the changes made to this site eg. “the forum” and you going to different cities( Chicago/ San Fran)… Have you considered/reconsidered my idea for a random “WLTV’er” to appear with you on an episode and critique some wine? A “WLTV’er” fan appreciation episode…

I am humble so please do not ask me….anyone else in this vast “WLTV nation” would do

Great episode, a little out of my regular price range.
QOTD- Shoot for at least 150 individuals. I don’t think that is out of the realm of possiblity. I watched for a month before I commented.
    Have fun on your trip!

Just a lurker coming out in support of Gary. I still think it would be alot of fun to have you do episodes while abroad. How ’bout an episode from Bordeaux? Get on those statins if that cholesterol is a problem, bud.
