QOTD: I think Muscadet is immensely underrated. Talk about your clamshell and bluestone . . . I’d like to hear your thoughts on muscadet and see some head-to-head deathmatch.

Gary, I’ve asked you before-how about an episode on CA Petite Sirah?

Gary, I would love to see you try some nice 2005 Pinot’s. Maybe some run the gammit from Santa Rita Hills all the way up to Oregon. Grab a Sea Smoke, Siduri, Patz & Hall and a Kosta Brown, let us know how the 05’s are doing. Or, do a Cali Cabernet 2004 tasting, let us know your thoughts on that wonderful vintage. Maybe go from a $20 bottle to a high end guy (or gal) like a Caymus or Piña, something 92+ WS. That’d be rad. Or even better, show us MORE footage of your Bordeaux trip and do some barrel tastings!!!!!!! I liiiike, veery niiiiice (BORAT).

Third time is the charm, able to view another great episode. I like the topic today of very affordable wines.
QOTD- Grenache! I have been drinking alot of grenache and grenache blends in the last month or so, I would like to know more, or you could just suggest some and I will probably end up ordering them.

How about an episode on wine from Spain, I am not sure if they make white wine too but that would be interesting. I would like to break into Spanish wine but don’t know a lot about it so that would be nice. I will not be heart broken though if you do it on other stuff though. This was a great episode, it was rainy out and it was nice to curl up to the computer and watch another great wltv show.

    WHAT?????
Allright maybe this is a case of bottle variance, but I could not disagree with you more on the Sunday Mountain S.Blanc. I tasted this as it was making its first entrance into the North Carolina market, my experience was over the top acidity with a full on load of urine. I’d like to say maybe it was corked but that’s a little difficult, unless Stelvin himself was involved. Anyway its a mad, mad, mad, mad world.

QOTD:Spectator’s Critics Darlings Pinot Noir:Kosta Browne,Siduri, Chasseur, and Shea. Come on G-Man you know you wanna. Let’s do in the hype together. Have us all ask ourselves is it worth it?

QOTD: How about a vertical tasting?

Maybe something that has really varied weather each year, or the first few years of a winery that’s just starting to “learn the ropes” or “find its niche”?

    QOTD:

How about sweet wines other than sauternes and vintage port? Maybe a sticky from Australia, a Quarts de Chaume, a colheita, and a vin santo?

okay, two comments in a week, something must be wrong (or it was the personal email from Mr. V himself).

my idea for a show this week, value Brunello. Sure, it is relatively easy to find great BdM in the $50-60/bottle range. How about $20-40/bottle? Is that possible?

Gary, now that would be a great, value added show.

QOTD: I second the dornfelder episode suggestion!
I love learning about little-known grapes. Because you can be assured that I know next to nothing about them. The only reason I’ve even heard of Dornfelder was from the WL website. . .
Maybe you could call it a Wine Geek episode. Maybe get a fellow wine geek to cohost.. . .?

  • I subscribe through iTunes and am having a problem also. The file SAYS Episode 217 Gary Vaynerchuk’s Best Deals Going, but when I play it, it’s actually Episode 213. I’ll try watching through Viddler instead.

Another Top 100. Enjoyed the episode, but must say I haven’t done well with GV’s selections of recommended under 10$ wines. Batting about 250. So reluctant to try any of these — but I probably will.

  • QOTD: I second the idea of a South African tasting. Get some nice minerally Sauv Blanc and Pinotage (which I don’t think Gary has reviewed before).

OR, how about an entire episode devoted to dessert wines like Sherry?

Another great episode. Thanks as always for bringing value to the table with a diverse and interesting group of wines!

QOD: I’d love to see you taste some of the obscure-varietal wines that Tom Ciocco has covered on the WL Terroir blog recently: Godello, Ribolla Gialla, Baga, Chasselas, Fer Servadou, Blaufrankisch, and Marzemino. He even has links to them in the WL store on each post, so I know you’ve got ’em:)

  • First off, I didn’t have any problems viewing the show, second- great episode! It’s always nice to hear respectable wine connoisseurs showing appreciation and sharing their views on the good $10 bottles.

QOTD: I’d say either go with the South Africa episode (I’m partial to anything African as Kenya is my home) or else, perhaps an episode on how to do/plan/make/layout a home wine cellar (that is, if you haven’t done an episode like that yet).

And yes I feel poised and controlled.
