Old world wines!!!! I’m a fan – great episode, GV – I WILL seek out some of these wines. Red radishes were quite popular in my childhood, in the north – my mom still grows them in her garden every summer. We get beautiful radishes most of the year here (way way up north) in the grocery stores as well.

QOTD- Steak tartar made fresh at your table in a wooden bowl by a team of servers in a Romanesque, very expensive steak joint – picture mirrored paneled walls, big chairs, plush silence – think JR Ewing, old school enough for you?

QOTD: favourite? Difficult to say. So much I love about old world. Maybe it’s hot chalkiness. Some wines, especially some well made traditional Sicilian whites can just taste like a hot chalky boulder in the middle of an olive yard, with crickets chirruping in the scorches grass surrounding it and some chunky lemons squashed on it. They just carry the smell of the sun. Gorgeous.

Muchas gracias Señor Vaynerchuk. Very nice selection; thanks for tasting such expensive wines for us. I’m not much of an “old world” style wine fan, but any serious wine connoseaur or taster comes across old world more often than not, so you have to know how to interpret and appreciate them.

QOTD: MUSIC, man.. CLASSICAL MUSIC! Every now and then, to enjoy at the theater or at home, either a dvd or just the music of Mozart’s Serenade No. 13 (Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (Nocturne Serenade)), or Brahms’ or Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, or one of Beethoven’s Symphonys. Pair that up with a glass of nice Port or any red wine. Pretty classic and old world, and pleasant. Haydn’s Quartets; I love chamber music too.
