QOTD: Both sides of da fence brotha. I think the occasional recommendation from the vaynermaster would be nice. I think it could be easily overdone, but sometimes the wines go on losing streaks like some well known football teams. Great show. Wish i was in Venice again.

  • Chris George

If you enjoy doing it the current way then that’s exactly what you should carry on doing. Nobody would be around to comment if it didn’t work. People should figure out what’s good for themselves, watching you do the same thing is all the education we need.
    Cheers Gary

QOTD: How about a balance of the two? Some episodes are recommendations and some are first time tastings. But all in all I have no problem with the format as is.

  • PhilB

QOTD: Stick with the way is show is right now… It’s the best cause it represents how we buyers act towards wine… Yes, we buy stuff that we’ve had in the past and know we like, but we also got out and try wine we’ve never before to see what they’re like… There is always a first time anyway!
Enjot Europe as much as it deserves it!

QOTD: Keep it how it is- though you could always make side comments (instead of full reports) on recent tastings, i.e. “if you like this wine, you’ll like…”

Side Comment: I love ordering from WL because of the great selection and prices BUT I hate getting all that styrafoam used for shipping. Maybe consider more recycleable shipping materials? Save the earth while changing the wine world 🙂

  • That Spanish Grenache looked like a true stunner, pity it didn’t liven up.
QOTD: keep going on like this. Better to be surprised and uninformed when you taste.

You guys decrease the audio bit rate on this one? It doesn’t sound as good as the others.

Love the current format. Would be great if you compared your favorite wine of the random picks (the unknowns) to one you have enjoyed recently (a known). Best wine tutorial I have ever seen, tons better than dealing with the schmos at tastings who either read from a book or I wish they had. Beautiful nose for the wine too, makes me want to open a bottle with you.

    Gary,

You lost me a little on this one. How is it that a chardonnay that doesn’t see any oak (hence the name “virgin”) is “over oaked”???

  • QOTD: I actually think a mix would be better. Keep it as it is, but throw in recommendations every now and again. Otherwise, don’t change a thing, Gary.

Thanks for doing another great show….I like it the way it is….based on the comments that I’ve read, so do most of those who comment….however if a good number of your fans want a show like that, why not “give it a whirl”….

I’m with you Shadowbird! Keep it mostly “old school” with a little “new world” thrown in every once in a while:-)

QOTD: Gary, keep the format just the way it is. I prefer having to taste wines that you’ve not had.

    QOTD..
I think that these requests are from viewers that want great wines for small bones. I am one of these viewers! But I enjoy your excitment and intensity when trying new wines. I feel that the show would loose “THE EDGE” if you changed the format to please the wine shoppers looking for a sure thing when purchasing wine, It’s like anything else, take a chance, and win or loose keep in mind, drinking wine is relaxing, enjoyable, expermentation, and most of all fun! Nobody needs to hit a home run every time we pop a cork, or unscrew a cap. I like to avoid dissapointment when opening a bottle of wine, but it happens to all of us.

  • Gary, WineLibraryTV is so varied it never ceases to deliver. Episodes like this are great because I can see wines in my price level that I might like. I don’t learn so much about a rare variatal or a region I’ve never heard of, but that’s for another day. Thanks for a great variety of shows!

QOTD: I would enjoy if you featured one wine that you have already tasted and recommend, but a whole show would be too much.

QOTD- I like the show the way it is. It’s fun to watch you taste wines you don’t like, too. If I knew all the wines were chosen because you like them, I wouldn’t really need to watch…half-kidding.

Great show today. A lot of the MP Sarah’s Blend gets drank in my crowd, although I am less wild about it than most. Cheers!

  • Jay

QOTD: I think the show format is great and you guys should keep up the excellent work. The only thing I would suggest you add would be something along the lines of “An under the radar show” every once in a while. What I mean by this is to feature an area like Greece, Egypt or an area like Temecula, CA, which not to many people know about but are wine producing regions that are trying to put out some good efforts.

    Thanks

    Jay

  • Ferrigno

QOTD: Leave as it is, discovering a good or bad wine along with you is the best 😉 BTW I would REALLY love to see a lot more shows that focus on areas of the world or grapes (like what youve done with albariño, riesling, etc) than “THE NEW SUPER BARGAIN 9 WINES UNDER 5 BUCKS” style of episode 🙂 BUT THATS ONLY ME THOUGHS

  • JC

    Yeah, leave it.

  • FredinNYC

QOTD: This is not really an answer to your QOTD, but an alternate suggestion. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has been disappointed in a wine which got a very high rating (95+) from WS, RP, et al. Perhaps you could do a show on some of these 95+ and tell us what YOU think. Do they deserve the rating or not?
