    Gary,

I like some of the Ruffino vintages that I have tried; but haven’t had it in a while.

QOTD: 1986/87 last two years of college and what a great ride it was.

Cool episode. Really was surprised to see the huge difference in the wines. Would not have guessed it would be that pronounced. QOTD: Every year my wife, my daughter, and myself are together and healthy it is the best year!

    GV,
Very neat. Head to head, vino a vino comparison. I wonder how much the 2003 will improve with age.
QOTD: I really can’t pick out a best year. I have been blessed with a good life thus far, and I believe the best is yet to come. Also, if I already had my best year, I’d have nothing to look forward to!!!

  • Favorite year is impossible, but no question I liked this comparison. Short and sweet. You may be fatigued at this point, but this was a really valuable eposide. A good way to mix up things, and I look forward to more like this.

This year for sure. You’ve got to make each one better than the last.

1994 was a good year/vintage for me. It was the vintage that was on the shelves on most of the retailers (especially north coast Cabernet) in 1997 when I fell in love with wine. It is also the year of my wedding!

    Cheers

Love the battle royale…you should do those more often to show the vintage variations.
QOTD – 1998, I took a year off and went to school in Ireland and Austria.

Best time of my life is probably right now. I’m leaving for 2 weeks in Japan tomorrow and I asked my girlfried of 5yrs to marry me at “The Modern” last night over a nice bottle of Duckhorn. I guess it was my lucky day because she said yes. I can’t really complain. Although 2nd grade was bad ass too, I miss you Mrs. Stewart and your paddington bear stories. Ah the good old days.

  • StangU

I got scared when I saw this because I already rec’ed the case I bought. The ’01 ia my “HAPPY” wine & I;m stoked to try the 99. BTW…I am no longer a lurker

    Hello Gary,

I probably owe you a quarter and then some at this rate. I just got back from my honeymoon, so hopefully that will give me some immunity from your Lurker Wrathâ?¢.

QOTD – 2001 would have to be my year of choice given that it’s the year I met my honeybunny and, as I said, I just got back from my honeymoon. 6 years, 1 month, 1 day together so far and many, many more to come. 🙂

QOTD: 1995, for too many reasons.

QOTD: I would have to say with out a doubt, this year has been the most fulfilling of my life. I cannot say it has been the easiest by any means, but I’ve really seen God’s plan for my life take shape. In 2006 I saw Him guiding me towards marriage with Karyn, and at age 21, that can be a scarry thing – but I persevered, through all the hard work of planning to get here.

My family is more tightly knit than ever before, I’m close to Karyn’s parents, and I’m excited to experience this life transition at the ripe old age of 23.

I think I’ve learned a lot about how to deal with stress and pressure as well, because I’m incredibly excited to market myself and my resume in the corporate world.

Hope the wine list on your cruise wasn’t too bad!

Cool episode! It is wild how different vintages can bring completely different things to the table. I’ll be honest…it has been a long time since I have tasted anything that was “earthy, earthy, poopy, poopy”. Intrigued to say the least. I grew up on a dairy farm so I’m familiar with the “nose”.

QOTD: To a certain degree, 1998…It was a time in my life that was full of possibilities. Still, that was before all four of my wee ones were born. So yeah, it has to be 2007. It keeps getting better and better. And crazier and crazier. And like a fine wine, ok, I’ll stop.

Congratulations on the Cholesterol results. Yay oatmeal! What wine goes best with oatmeal? Maybe a Mersault or a sherry or sparkling wine. Maybe sparking Shiraz.
QOTD: I like this year because I just retired and there’s a cushion of time around everything I do – very few back-to-back activities and even fewer meetings. Kind of like the elementary school years.

Love the battle of the bottle! This is the kind of episode that really teaches you something. QOD: This year is shaping up to be the best so far. My career is finally shaping up to be something I’m totally enthralled with. I’ve never been more happily in love and now we’re planning a wedding! This year I’ll be moving back to NY to be closer again with my family and friends and I can’t wait. I’ve learned so much about life and love. Financially, this year is promising to bring the largest year-end gross I’ve ever seen, and it’s allowing me to take pleasure in the finer things, lots of golf, food, and wine! Only good things to come.
