The opening and closing of this show is off the hook, dudes. Talk about bringing the thunder! This is the 6th or 7th consecutive show? Dang, you rule.

Disagree with the comment about learning “proper” French pronunciation, you communicate and make yourself understood and that’s the objective n’est pas?
Besides it adds to the charm and persona. That attitude is exactly the snootiness that “we’re trying to change the wine world” , i’snt it?

Wow! that was freaky, dunno what happened but I think I just had a major flashback. Consider this my three cents.

As I was saying, being new to the wine world I guess I’m prejudiced in favor of as I recall as a child watching the local news stories about the excitement and anticipation of the first shipment each year. I recall queues of Cabbage Patch and Tickle Me Elmo proportion. I figured it must be a good thing.

Definitely surprised about the aging thing I also thought it was something that should be consumed sooner rather then later.

Well. you did it again, I started a new cart……. damn you Vay-ner-chuk you’ll be the end of my marriage yet!

Hey Gary, do you got change for a nickle?
QOTD: Nope, Not Yet. I am amazed how many types of wines that have been given a bad name. Keep up the good work.

I’ve never even SEEN a Cru Beaujolais. Which speaks more to my lack of knowledge than the lack of diversity I’ve been exposed to. . . Next time I’m near one, I’ll grab it. Unless you wanna put one on free.winelibrary.com, because I’m a sucker for that site like you would not believe. . . (Luckily, not for $20+ pinot grigio, however)

Love this string of episodes. No, I don’t have a prejudice about beaujolais. I’ve only tried a couple so far. They weren’t bad but not worth writing home about. I’ll try one or two from this show soon and give the gamay grape another shot!

My brother brought a Beujolais to Thanksgiving dinner last year (said it would go well with the turkey). One of the few wines I have ever dumped out (very embarrasing). Went with the MacMurray pinot noir instead.

Maybe I should revisit the Gamay grape, however, especially with the QPR.

Love the pennies in the eyes.

Love the episode, Gary! QOD: Well, maybe a little predudice. For some reason, I want to compare Beaujolais with Yago Sangria….

I not prejudice of this wine. It’s well suited with a nice light pasta with raw tomato sauce. It’s a summer wine. I like it – how’s the VACA treating you Gary?

Gotta admit to you G that I was not thinking much of Beaujolais…you’ve changed my mind about now!
I appreciate the effort you’re putting into filming all these episodes on one day…your palate must be on fire!

    Cheers,

hey Gary. Nice shirt. Have I seen it before?
yeah yeah yeah, I know. just a running joke.
    anyway – the QOTD –
I am not prejudiced against cheap, watery overly fruity and one dimensional wines like Beaujolais. I happen to like both the “cold duck” like flavor profile of Beaujolais Nouveau as well as the thin, fruity but often times dry and acidic wines from Morgon, Fleurie and Brouilly. I like it when I don’t even want to finish the whole bottle because the wine is too tart and uninteresting. Smell the sarcasm.
Maybe if I tasted something good – but too many bad DuBouef’s have led me to better place my money on Spanish wines and now wines from Portugal too.

    Gary,

Great thinking. Nice topic. Ther are many good cru beaujolais. These would be great for a “taste-along-with-Gary” episode as they are something everyone could afford and enjoy. Thanks again for the WLTV-a-thon. I hope you’re drunk and (more)obnoxious by the last episode.

  • Susan

Gary-Thanks for ONCE again challenging us to try new things. Never tried a Beaujolais before. I will soon. Another fabulous ep!!!

Come on….how many beaujolais do you really drink?
QOTD – Guilty as charged…I would never have bought a beaujolais…never! But, I’ll give it a look and let you know.

Wow! Cru Beaujolais, can’t wait for the Cru Rose’s episode. I’m not prejudice, but I do tend to discriminate. Is that a hate crime?

Beaujolais rocks it and always has. It’s all about place and time and the wine that moves the moment!

QOTD: Hell yeah I have a preconcieved bias against the gamay grape, but it’s georges fault. If he didn’t make that aweful sewer water he calls wine we wouldn’t have this problem. My wife is ready to strangle you for dissing her Earl Grey tea, it’s her favorite thing in the world. But hey, we’re cool, cuz oolong is my favorite.

I cut my wine teeth on Georges Debouef Beaujolais when I was 22 or 23 so I have a soft spot. Great memories! I’ve tried his cru efforts and they usually disappoint but I like what you’re bringing with these three. Note to self…look for the horse on the bottle!
