QOTD – “Favorite cheese of all time”?

      Hmmm… Velveeta….Cheez-Whiz….Cheez-Whiz….Velveeta…

      You ask the tough questions.

      There’s no way to decide.

best cheese in the world is Royal Stilton with dried figs and good tawny Port. Shiiiiiizniiiiizy, looks good on ya.

Nice episode, which I don’t say very much, like the shirt with a little hamburger meat peakin’ out. That’s how I usually rock it and people need to realize that hamburger meat is their friend.

    • QOTD, take 2: I forgot to evangelize about my favorite feta, which is French. French feta is less salty and more creamy than Greek feta (or any other kind, for that matter). I get it at my favorite Greek market whenever I’m in California. They import many different types of feta from all over the world, but the French stuff is what all the regulars go for.

Sweet! I love Carignane and Grenache, awesome to find a cool new one for $9.99! That Sauterne looks like it is out of this world, I’ve never tasted Sauterne, looks like I need to try it soon.

My.02; People are strange when you’re a stranger, Lurkers come out of the closet. 🙂

Great show as usual, I’ve got to go pick up my shirts from my parents house in FL since I couldn’t get the damn shirts shipped to GA. 😉 Good thing it’s only 45 minutes away and I get to go visit the rents.

QOTD – Tillamook medium cheddar …. simple I suppose, but it works for me.

    • Justin S

Crap I forgot QOTD: Goat cheese for sure, something about the dirty freshness of it. Goat cheese kills it with Chateauneufdupape, one of my favorite combos for sure.

So all this talk about Facebook – what I want to know is where is the WLTV or the Corkd Facebook app? Let’s get it together. Having seen things like Ilike take off because of facebook, I really think we need to get into the game here. I think we could easily double viewership. BTW, sneezing efforts today earned us 2 or 3 new fans – now its time to convert the lurkers.

Nice episode – really like the energy. I think we should start a “quote of the day” – a QOTD2 – to go along with Gary’s QOTD. Mine today was “almost rotten strawberries.” Yum. In all seriousness though, your “old world description of the Loco sounded pretty damn New World at points.

QOTD: Favorite cheese? Well, sorry to admit it, but I’ve never been a big fan of chees by itself. HOWEVER, being Italian, I’m a sucker for the Parmesean- Romano- Mozzarella combo, perhaps on a homemade pie* with homemade tomatoe sauce with a little green pepper kick and basil influence.

Want WLTV on your Facebook profile? Go with a bit of SplashCast app action with a little WLTV RSS video feed mixed in. It updates automatically…and it must be good since even Gary took my suggestion 🙂

QOTD: I’m just getting into the wine world, so I haven’t even thought about cheese yet! I’ll just have to ask my own question of the day AND include a suggestion for the show. When Gary pours the wine in front of the camera, where does it go?

Suggestion: I’m new to wine, so answering some of the questions can be difficult…leaving me with a ‘last kid picked in gym class’ kinda feeling. This got me thinking that you, Gary, should have some sort of wine 101 workshop! I’m from the Dirty Jerz (exit 88 to be precise) and would willingly pay some US bones to get my feet on the right track in this crazy, overwhelming world I’m supposed to change. I feel like it would be a great way to meet and bring in more Vayniacs. Whatya think?

Good ep, nice find on the El Nino. QOD: Reluctantly, if I must choose one cheese that I absolutely cannot live without it has to be parmigiano reggiano. Italian cuisine is something that influences my cooking and my tastes in wine and to be without the big Parm would be a travesty. I go for the good stuff when selecting parm, dense, hard, (expensive), nutty and buttery. If I can sit and nibble it plain, it’s good parm.

    • JOEinLA

I like the way you got right in to the wines.

QOTD The Ribiola cheese that you engulfed with the Brunello or Barolo.I forget now but the triple cream cheeses are the way to go for me.Thanks!

…and I love Marzipan so picking up a bottle of that Sautern.

side note…I think you’ve really turned a corner on here now going from someone who had a lot of wine knowledge and good energy and enthusiasm to really professional with a rare ability to attract from a broad base of fans.I’m spreading the word out here in LA.

By the way, made a bit of an attempt to get in to Bin…while you were here in LA but they said ( over the phone) that it was a little tight and reservations were needed etc.

How about going head to head with Wine Spectator and tasting thier “smart buys” or “collectables” for us…?

Very very nice episode. So bad you didn’t like the Sebastiani, since is one of my favorites everyday wine. I’m a oak monster fan i guess.
QoTD: I love all cheeses, they go terrific with some big cbas and ports.
My top 3 (in order of preference): Camembert, goat cheese and mozarella.

    • QOTD:

I don’t know it’s name or anything about it, but the single best cheese experience I’ve ever had was in Switzerland when a friend and I bought a chunk of stanky stanky cheese from the local supermarket. At first we thought the stuff was pure armpit with in-between-the-toes action. A few days later when we bought another friendlier and creamier cheese we finally understood how special the fromage de l’armpit was. Maybe it was just the moment, but that ranks as my best cheese memory.

Another great episode Gary! I’ve never had a “thunder” Sauternes, but I I think I seek out the 03 Raymond Lafon.

QoTD: It was a great goats cheese (don’t remember the name) with a reduced balsamic vinegar creme like thing.
