    • Alpine cheese with lighter wines and red rind soft cheese with the dark coloured stuff.

The most important thing: It has to be organic cheese. Try it. You’ll never eat that artificial gunge again.

QOTD: Even though I am a U of O Duck alum, I have to admit the Natural Cougar Gold cheese from WSU in Pullman is very good cheese … just as tasty, though less salty, is the Jarlsberg cheese I let age in the back of my fridge for a year or two …. mmmmm mmmmmm gooooood !

      Question of the Day Answer:

Being from Wisconsin, it is difficult to narrow down favorite types of cheese. I guess I will have to go with the following:

      Edam
      Brie
      Provolone
      Mozzarella

Thank you for the Luberon red, I love their terroir and can’t wait to try the “loco”. I think I was salivating at your Sautern and goat chs descriptions, great job. I’m staring to have a pretty good collection of sauterns but I’m loathe to try them til they’ve turned a deep honeyed color. At least that is what I’ve been told to do. I don’t want to date any of those “14 year olds”.
I’m freaking cause my a/c unit is out and now my 200 btl cellar is over 70 degrees. I hope that a/c fixer dude shows soon or I may have to drink them all, now.

    • Hey Gary longtime lurker.
      Rochefort is my favorite cheese.
Going to go find the ’05 Guillaume and try that. I love the wines from Southern France and Spain. I especially enjoy when you cover those areas. How about a Port show one of these days?
      Thanks
      L

Guys, don’t listen to GV when it comes to CA Cabs, he is just a girly man who is affraid of the Oak Monster. Viva Sebastiani!!! I never had a Sebastiani that wasn’t a great value, like I said many times before, you don’t drink and much less judge CA Cabs that are that young, shame on you GV!

QOTD: Two year old aged Manchego or Roquefort with the company of a 5/6 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú, or better Tokaji Essencia, anything else is wasting life away.

QOTD: a good aged Mahon! Totally awesome. Also had a Dutch/Danish cheese with cumin seeds in it recently, and that rocked. Don’t know the name though.

    • Bryan

Nice episode – hope I can find a couple of those around here.

QotD: Not a huge cheese geek, but you’ve got to love the feta. Also, though probably not for cheese purists, I’m a big fan of cheese with jalapenos (i.e. monterey jack) and recent had an amazing havarti with dill.

I have watched your show for the first time today….June 22, 800am and enjoyed it. You appear irreverant but seem knowledgable. I am 50, don’t look it, and hang with much younger people so my attitude is ecclectic. I love wine….am not knowledgable about it..but am an artist and therefore believe I have some natural sensitivity to recognizing greatness. I am excited about the Chateau Raymond Lafon…..higher then I spend on wine…but I will give it a go…after all I am all about the greatness….. . I don’t like cheap wine….I am not about quantity over quality….I can’t drink alot …so I want every glass to count. Hope to see more of you shows…and I love Gewirztriminer… Are there any great ones? Lisa

Can’t wait to try the Guillaume. Great idea for a show. I am glad to see that cheese has made it’s way back onto the show. I think you should just start poppin’ Lipitor and have a minmum of one cheese per day. QOTD:
Saint Marcellin, nice and creamy with some good stank.

      Favorite cheese:
Shelburne Farms Two-Year Cheddar from Shelburne, VT. The 2 year products are sold out now but it should be available again in August. I grew up down the street and they are doing great things.

I also have a weakness for The Laughing Cow brand Wedges (Original Creamy Swiss)
