I second the Don Melchor, it is my favorite South American wine (the 2003, the 2004 is still tight) How about a taste off with that and Nicolas Catena Zapeta 2003. That would be bringing the serious thunder chile and Argentina style.

I know winelibrary doesn’t carry any Michigan wines worth noting I am still waiting on a tasting of Wyncroft’s wine, I know you’ll bring it someday soon.

  • How about Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2006 for Friday?

    http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=9414

At 8 bucks, is there a catch?

  • Excellent episode. I’m a sucker for the off-the-beaten-track varietals.

QOTD: That said, I’d be interested in your thoughts on the Rosenblum 2004 Syrah, England-Shaw Vineyard, from Solano County, just SE of Napa: http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=30007

    Good show GV
I would like to see a show with three Port Wines from a high, medium and low price range. You could even go way out on a limb and do a show on sherry.

Finally comin’ out of “lurker” status for this one.

QOTD: Gary, in your quest to bring back Merlot, I’d be interested to see you taste the Twomey Cellars Merlot 2003. I’ve visited their tasting room twice, and have really enjoyed trying their wine, but only recently pulled the trigger on buying a bottle from Wine Library since you’ve got such great pricing. Twomey employs “the soutirage traditional, a labor-intensive approach used by classified growths in Bordeaux.” (More info on that technique on http://www.TwomeyCellars.com)

2002 St. Veran “Les Roches Pointues” was one of the first wines I had when I could be considered in the CKC. Have always wanted to try it again now that I know a little more about wine. They carry it at Park and Orchard in East Rutherford: http://www.parkandorchard.com/wine2.html

Did a search and didn’t see you review it before, so I would love to see

    Seven Deadly Zins
    http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=29495

Bought it for friends as part of a wine basket gift for their wedding (this was, obviously the cheap one of 5 from 17.99-119.99 -Opus One, as much for the name since it was a gift as anything-)

They LOVED it, and were raving about it last time we talked. Couldn’t believe it was as inexpensive as it was.

Oh, I’m officially not a lurker anymore 🙂

How about drinking a nice summer beaujolais on Friday such as this 2005 Fuisse Morgon Charme.

What do you think the ageing potential is?

QOTD: My husband and I have been seduced by vouvrays this summer, and the one at the Wine Library that has been calling to me is the Viking Vouvray Cuvee Aurelie 2002. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=30767 Its a bit out of my normal price range (although I’ve been hinting at it for a birthday present), so I’m hoping to live vicariously through you this Friday. 🙂

BTW, if you do pick that vouvray I suggest above, let me know if it might pair up well with birthday cake. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I have told anyone who would listen that the best cabernet I have had in the past few years is the 2001 Beringer Reserve so this would be my first choice.

You got my juices flowing with those Super Tuscan tastings. It’d be great if you tasted the 2004 Sette Ponti Oreno for us.

Missed you in Napa but my wife and I had a great time nevertheless. What a great night to be there, not too hot and beautifully green with the vines at full throttle.

    Ciao

Nice episode. I have yet to try an Amarone. On the list for sure.

QOTD: I have been stocking up on 2001 Brunello’s and would like your take on what I think could be a good value for BDM:
