Hey Gary, you can say whatever you want about Keith Olberman but Jet fans were obviously over the top w/ their cheers for Clemmons. I watched that game plus the other two home preseason games where they did the same thing when he came in. They were obviously overjoyed to see Clemmons in and Pennington out. If you don’t know polite applause from sadistic cheers, you haven’t been to too many football games, especially games w/ those cynical, sadistic, boisterous Jet fans. Go Giants!!

Speaking of Dolcetto. Was in my local wine store this last Friday, listening to the shop-owner deal with an obnoxious older customer who “hated Chardonnay” but wouldn’t tell the shopkeeper why. Anyway, I dealt with this same shopkeeper next. I am 27 looking like 16, so I usually don’t get much attention at first when I walk into these places. Taking a bottle of Dolcetto to her (a previous wltv recommendation re: values in the Piedmont region) for an opinion, her eyes literally lit up and couldn’t stop talking about how good a value it was, but nobody knew about it, and how everyone is always asking for the same Pinots and Merlots. Figured I needed to share that story. Thanks for the wine-street-cred.

QOTD: People saying Britney Spears is fat…they should be saying she chose the wrong outfit for her body type…I would kill to have her body!!!

Another one is the need to regulate wine shipments!!! I am glad to finally live in a state with a little more relaxed wine shipping policy (LA)…much better than KY or TN!!!

Oh no, a black t-shirt designed for me and others like me with an esoteric logo and phrase? How’d you know, that’s just the kinda thing to get me posting daily (‘cept now when I wear it it’s gonna be a lie). Sorry I couldn’t see the episode on time to email your papi, yesterday was Free Hug Day, looks like you coulda used one. Thanks for putting on an entertaining show, you’re the greatest.

QOTD: There used to be a summer wine tasting in the outdoor portion of a very lovely gallery, and there I tasted champagne, sparkling wines, port, sherry, dessert wines, red wines, white wines, and the fact that I kept falling off my shoes should have given me a clue, but I kept on until I was sick, but I didn’t actually get sick until the ride home (about an hour) in someone else’s car.

I’ll get a Birthday Wish to Sasha possibly in Russian – I hope Russian is similar enough to Belarusian to be easily understood.

Sorry about the Jets. I know they appreciate your loyalty.

I like the Jets but the fans were definitely booing Pennington while he was trying hard to stand. It didn’t seem to have anything to do with the backup QB coming in…Cmon Jet’s fans.

QOTD…Wine gouging. I’m annoyed at over priced wine lists and exhorbatant corkage fees that restaurants charge.If I bring a bottle, charge me for stems but cmon, $25+ begins to get old. Houstons, for example…No corkage. It may not be fine dining but still great Filets and they seem to be getting by without corkage.

QOTD: Overpriced 2005 Bordeaux futures for one. Sports journalists for two. They absoultely beat every story to death. I have heard enough about Michael Vick. They also create stories where there is no story. Enough already!

QOTD: Hallmark stores…all that smelly stuff gives me a headache.

The selections of wines were great today. Too bad they didn’t pan out. This variety would be a nice four pack to pick up.

Gary, the NFL is looking into claims a Patriots employee was videotaping signals by Jets coaches on New York’s sideline during the season opener.

The investigation was first reported by ESPN.com, which said that NFL security confiscated a video camera and tape from a Patriots employee during the game Sunday. Man, if this is true, the Patriots REALLY stink!!!

QOTD: I hate fair weahter “fans.” These people have been “fans” of the Cowboys, 49ers, you name it. If you can’t ride the down years with your team, you don’t deserve the glory years. Stay true to your team!

Hmm – what makes me sick? would it be the inability of the Eagles to execute? Nah – that’s only 18 weeks. It would have to be the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and their free shipping blockade. But it’s ok – I know the way to WL. Which is more than the Eagles know about the way to the playoffs.

QOTD – People who not only drink white zin, but also feel the need put ice cubes in it!

Happy Birthday to Papa Sasha. I have never figured out how families do that moving to another country without knowing the language and not even expecting a job. My grandparents did that and after talking to them about it I was even more astounded. Not sure I could do it. Never saw an e-mail address to send to him directly.

Too bad about this episode. Whenever I have a bad round of golf I just let it go and move on to the next round. There will always be a next week for the Jets. Hey, you could be a Michigan or Notre Dame fan. The episode is not a complete bust with the great review of the Dolcetto.

Did not know Gray was from Queens, Please tell me he’s a fellow Mets fan.
