OK Kahuna you got me. The exact reason for the bacon flavor has to do with a combination of the yeast combined with a specific type of smoked malt; however, most smoked malt based beers do possess a meaty smoky quality as far as I have seen.

And sorry to say Gary, but the G-Men are going to kill the Jets this week.

ROCKING episode chaps! I sometimes have to remind myself to leave the wine fridge alone and check out some craft beers at this great bar within walking distance of my home. Might have to do that tonight. Lots of fun trying new beers, so many options. Here comes the plug: if you live in Chicago, check out the Map Room at 1949 N. Hoyne Ave. (at Armitage).

  • rob in indy

WTF was that. I don’t know what was funnier, the 2 “men” who can’t eat cheese b/c they will get sick or the Beer Guru that had the 3 top buttons undone and then an undershirt on underneath. That must be the preppy Jersey version of the saggy pants with boxers on. If you are going to sag your pants or open your shirt, show us what you are trying to show us. Alec must be a hit with the ladies with that wardrobe, the dietary constraints, youthful face, and all that beer knowledge. CLASSIC EPISODE!

  • Jeffrey

Great idea GV. I’d definitely be cool with a beer ep once a month or so.

Fanfricken tastic episode…..On your next beer show you should try some of the Alaska Brewery’s beers. Especially the darker ones. They actually have a beer that can be stored for 15 plus years and it gets better and better each year you drink it….Great show, Thanks….

Sheerly awesome. As a beer lover, I would love to see a spin-off show.

And nice camera work, by the way.

As a member of the CKC, a homebrewer and a lover of “craft” beer, I have to say I was a little offended. But I see where you are coming from; most college kids do not drink real beer which is a shame. They are marketed a product that slightly resembles actual beer by [3] huge corporations – and told that that is what beer should taste like. Someone needs to step up and change the beer world along with the wine world, and this is definitely a good start! Great show, would love to see more of these!
