The first is expensive, but unbelievable heaven! #2 is the dawn of a new age of wine from China. Superb! The 3rd is affordable and absolutely delicious!

Lurker here, really been enjoying wines by Ste. Chappelle out of the new Idaho appelation. Great Rose and a dynamite Cab Franc Ice wine, along with the Reisling Ice Wine. They also have a soft red wine and soft Chenin Blanc, amazing. Didn’t know souther Idaho was so good. Also had a Melbac from Argentina, very nice. Otherwise I am a big Benton-Lane Pinot fan. Love the Oregon Coast.

Three favorites? Yikes, how do you limit it to three? 2004 Reininger Syrah, 2004 Williams Selyem Russian River Pinot Noir, 2001 Heitz Cab are up there at the moment. But all time? Who knows.

Some recent favs- hmmmm, had Casa Rodena 2005 Meritage from New Mexico that was quite tasty a few weeks ago (though not estate grapes) and tonight I had the Cheateu Ste Michelle 2003 Cabernet (Colombia Valley) which from a QPR standpoint is a steal. I can’t think of a third…oh yeah, I tried that Altesino from a few months back and loved it. Good recommendation.

QOTD: My three favorite wines lately are: 2005 Alfred Merkelbach A?rziger Warzgarten Riesling Spatlese, 2004 Dehesa de Rubiales Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y Lean Alaia, and 2005 Chateau Coupe Roses Minervois la Bastide. But I know if you ask again in two weeks they’ll all be different. That’s the great thing about wine…so much to try.

Gary, thanks for the shout out today for my birthday. My kids think I’m famous. (I overheard my step-son tell his dad that I was “mentioned on Gary Vaynerchuk’s show and it’s watched by millions of people every day”.)

QOTD; in no order,Fontodi Flaccianello, Pine Ridge FORTUS, Mondavi Cabernet Tokalon Vineyard..and I’ll throw in Clerico Barolo Sori Ginestra and Leoville Las Casas.

QOTD: as of late:
1) Chateau Pesquie 2004 “Terrasses” Cotes de Ventoux – big and drinking really well now but will absolutely open up over the next 3-5. Around $12 (Canadian).
2) Corolle 2006 Rose – VDP Cote du Condomois – who knew there was a region in France named ‘Condom’? A great dry rose. Around $14?
3) Graham’s 2000 LBV – around $22ish. Huge and massively concentrated.

That’s pretty much for this month – bound to change almost imminently.

Probably the toughest QOTD ever:

Can’t wait to try some of the Fleur Des Pins – I’ve started seeking out a lot of the wines you’ve been tasting and must say, you’ve been spot on.

– 2004 Sequoia Grove Cabernet (GV: You were right, this wine went to charm school. I told a friend of mine who is a master sommelier and has his own wine store that the SG was better than 04 Don Melchor, he laughed at me… and then he tried it, and I laughed at him.)
– 2005 Numanthia Termes – not as good as the Numanthia Numanthia, but for $20 it’s good enough to buy two – one to drink and the other to bathe with.
– 2004 Hacienda Monasterio Ribera del Duero – if I had a show like you, GV, this would be the wine I would tell people “this is why you watch my show.”
