QOTD: Favorite tie knot? What knot? It’s already pre-done when you clip it on!

Wonder if I’ll get my Frank Zin before it sells out.

    QOTD: Half windsor.

By the way, for the word following ‘secondary’, instead of ‘third tier’ you could use ‘tertiary’. Sorry, pet peeve of mine – Captain English will go back to sleep now.

QoTD: Given my name, I feel absolutely obliged to answer the tie question. I really don’t know if I have a favourite, or, for that matter, if most of the ways I tie a tie have names! Among the named versions I fancy are, in this order, the Plattsburgh, the Windsor (a.k.a., double / full Windsor), and the Shelby (a.k.a. Pratt). If you’re interested in … well, unusual knots, have a look at T.Fink & Y.Mao’s book “The 85 Ways to Tie a Tie”. -or- Have a look at their Nature article “Designing Tie Knots by Random Walks” (Nature 398, 31-32 (4 March 1999)).

C’mon where’s the Michigan wines?? Anyway, good episode, seeing this is making me wonder if Robert Parker was wrong in labling 2005 CA Zin as being average off wines (rated 78I). The few Zins that I’ve had in this vintage were excellent and your favorite today was an 2005 also. How much stock do you take in a critic rating a vintage?

Hopefully the Frank Family is included in the 4-pack I just ordered! 🙂

Since the Frank is sold out, I guess I’ll have to open my good ole standbys; Turley and Haywood.

    Cheers

    QOTD: The Half-Windsor knot

If not the Frank Family Zin, is today’s free shipping selection (Onthedge luvisi zinfandel ’03
    ) just as good?

  • QOTD: My favorite tie knot is the only one I know how to do. I don’t know what its called! I taught myself how to do it when my daughter was working at Olive Garden and needed to wear a tie to work! I don’t wear ties so.. Meh!

BTW: I nearly ordered two bottles of the 2005 Felline Primitivo Di Manduria for Thanksgiving (Because I LOVED it), but I watched today’s episode first – good thing! I hope the wines in the pack stack up! I’m bringing the wine to Thanksgiving – I want to make a good impression on the family!

Gary – you never answer my wine questions on twitter or on your Facebook app.. What gives?

  • Tommy Vernieri

QOTD: I went on a Pratt kick for a while, but now I’m back to the Windsor.

We joined you with the Zinfandel tonight and had the Peachy Canyon Westside 2002. Very nice, extremely balanced in all ways. It has a great mouthfeel that’s just right, “not too hot, not too cold.”

The Thanksgiving pack makes me happy and sad. I’m super pumped to be buying unknown GV-picked wine for a special occasion but I was also excited to be picking out some wines from my “cellar” this year. I guess we’ll see what I’ve got when the box arrives. Can’t wait for the contest announcement.

I’m really interested in that last wine, think anyone has it for cheaper? =)
