  • Gary, happy birthday! I LOVED watching the interaction you had with your father on the show. I actually had a smile on my face the whole time I was watching. Of course now thinking about it, it also makes me sad because I never had that great of a relationship with my father… but I love seeing it and it’s definitely something I will strive for if I ever have kids myself. Perhaps that’s why I like seeing it so much. I fully agree with your opinions of family and friends being the most important thing; they always bring me such joy. And I love bringing those close friends together around wine. It definitely brings us together.

    Also, I remember seeing some orchids in some of the other episodes. That’s cool that he’s into that! I have orchids growing all over my house as well… don’t have quite as many in bloom as your father, but it’s definitely a passion of mine, along with wine. In fact, there was one in bloom behind my friend Ken in the picture I sent to you after we had the Pinino Brunello (89 points!). Funny seeing how another wine lover is also so into plants. Maybe there’s a correlation?
