I'm open to wines in a box, although I feel dubious about them and have never bought one and don't have any plans to. I'm definitely not into wines in a can however, I know Coppola's even doing one of those. I tasted a cuvee de pena rose in a bottle, it wasn't awful for the $2 or 3.99 it cost wholesale.

At this rate, box wines will only be used for large parties where no one cares about quality.
QOTD: Porterhouse – best steak. Skirt steak – can do without.

QOTD QOTD QOTD QOTD QOTD QOTD QOTD: The best steak I ever had was a 14 day dry aged bone-in Ribeye and the worst was a big-chain grocery store new york.

(Oh well for the under the football guess, I could have sworn I heard something roll when you moved it an episode or two ago….le sigh)

  • QOTD: Best steak ever: Peter Luger. Worst steak ever: Peter Luger. Man, did I have one rough night there. Cold meat, undercooked — just nothing was right. Even the dog got sick from the bones we brought home. But the other few times I’ve been, wow, amazing meat.

If I win, pull another name for the wine! Even classic Bordeaux is sometimes wasted on me.

QOD: best steak I ever had was for the 5 year anni.. home cooked filet mingon wrapped in homestyle bacon marinated and drizzled in truffle oil! Paired it with that 83 Lascombe.. twas amazing meal.

Worst.. only thing I can come up with is those crappy Salisbury steak TV dinners. Ugh!

QOTD: Best steak – A Porterhouse grilled by a friend. He seasoned the steaks with salt and pepper and a thick lathering of butter before grilling. The steaks were seared on both sides over hot coals and then moved to another side of the grill and finished using indirect heat. The melted butter created an incredibly flavorful char on the outside sealing in all the yummy juices.
Worst steak – Recently had at a friends wedding. Terrible caterer. It was one of the thinest steaks I’ve ever seen. An ugly grayish brown in color, almost as if it had been boiled to well-done. It had almost no flavor. If that had been served at my wedding, I think I would have cried.

  • QOTD- Worst… Applebee’s ‘shoe-like’ steak in 2004, never been back! Best… from a joint locally called ‘The Keg’ (might be a chain). Very juicy, cooked to perfection! Totally surprised me! Maybe it’s due to the fact I didn’t go in with a ‘comparable to Ruth’s Chris’ mentality.

QOTD: The best steak was in Phoenix on McCollock can not remember the name of the place, great sirloin. Worse steak has to be here, sorry to say, off the grill.
