I'm open to wines in a box, although I feel dubious about them and have never bought one and don't have any plans to. I'm definitely not into wines in a can however, I know Coppola's even doing one of those. I tasted a cuvee de pena rose in a bottle, it wasn't awful for the $2 or 3.99 it cost wholesale.

Great episode and for thank you for continuing to think outside the “box”!

QOTD: The worst steak would have to be a Swanson Hungry Man Salisbabury Steak – What was I thinking when I bought this?
The best steak beside my own would be the Rib-eye at the Palm in Boston – Cheers

Best steak- Trip to the mountains of North Carolina with my son. On the porch of the cabin beside a small stream , grilled two steaks and just enjoyed the time together. The worst was from a family style buffet resturant called golden corral. Nasty!

QOTD: The best steak I have ever had was at Ruth’s Chris in Seattle. It was a ribeye…the ost that just melts in your mouth and went wonderfuly with the wine our waiter (yes, waiter) picked out for us. The WORST steak ever was while I was in the Philippines….but then again what can you expect when you are so far away from the butcher shop? Or maybe it was just because it was a hostile environment and we couldn’t drink wine with our steak????

Nice episode. The preservation of the wine in the box would be a great concept for quality wine producers to investigate. I wonder if it does retain freshness for a month. To see how the wine would react, I would love to have the ability to put a good wine in a bladder, without oxzidation during the transfer of course. My never ending experiments.

QOTD: Lannings, in Bath, Ohio. Extra cut 12 oz filet. Everytime I go. Love the hot, hot grill You could spread that filet on bread. And their signature sauce matches great with a variety of reds.

Worst: Two come to mind. Yoeswki resorts strip steak, pure shoe leather. Berns Steak House (yes Berns) Chateaubriand. Not trimmed and flavorless QPR Bad, Bad, Bad.

The best steak that I ever had was actually recently at Ruths Chris. I don’t tend to eat a lot of steaks, but that was pretty darn tasty. The worst steak I had was probably one that my friends and I made earlier this year. It may have been the grade F meat, or perhaps the the quasi-functional camp stove, but either way they tasted unlike meat.

Best steak… not from a restaurant… straight from the local, organic farm.
Worst steak… Lone Star steak house. Ordered a steak medium-well… they said they were all out of medium-well steaks and only have medium steaks left. Can’t you just leave it on the grill a little longer!? No, they’re pre-cooked and only heated up before serving… yuck!

  • Best steak I ever had was a Painted Hills Filet out of Oregon. Had a criminini mushroom Bordelaise. Paired that with an 05 Pride Merlot. Yes. I’ll take two thank you.
Worst stake was the one I had to drive through my girlfriends heart after she turned into a vampire.

HA great ep. I am insy on this one!

such good enthusiasm today. You are in the holiday spirit my man.

QOTD: im a big fan of the usual suspect chains like mortons and palm. ruth’s chris was not bad either. I think the BEST however, was a filet mignon i had at the ritz in naples a couple of years ago for my birthday. it was divine. Worst steak was anytime someone overcooked it on the grill, because i like my steaks BLOODY.

QOTD: My friend and I went to the local butcher and got our own filet mignons to grill. We cooked them medium rare with some grilled onions, garlic mashed potatoes, and cheese rolls. Absolutely delicious.

QOTD – This is tough. Best – Bennett’s NY Strip in Greenwich, CT. Worse – by me when i badly overcooked filet on the grill. It was barely edible!

Nice episode! I´m 2 years out of college, but still totally down with the CKC. What´s next? Handles? 🙂

    QOTD:
Best: Steak Bordelaise with the whipped cauliflower instead of the frites at Mon Ami Gabi in Lincoln Park, Chicago.
Worst: Any one from the number of times Dad forgot about what he had going on on the grill. BOO.

  • QOTD: Best steak ever: the fillet from Cabo’s Corner Bistro in Richmond, VA – it was the rehearsal dinner for my wedding.

The worst? Ugh…Golden Corral for sure. D-sgusting.

QOTD: The best steak I ever had was a filet cooked on my Big Green Egg. The Big Green Egg is wonderful… you can sear a steak at 800 degrees or slow cook ribs at 250 degrees.
The worst steak I ever had was a new york strip that was cooked on a old lava rock gas grill. The outside of the steak was charred from the flame ups and the inside was very dry.

By the way… loved todays show on boxed wines. Wish you would do more shows on boxed wines.

    tk 🙂

The best steak I have had was one that I grilled myself that I bought from a Greenwich CT butcher who dry ages on the premises.

The worst in recent memory was a prime rib from the Outback that tasted as if it was steamed – it was watery and flavorless.

  • The best steak I’ve ever had was at my parent’s house. Last year around this time we stayed with them for a couple of days and had steak. All my favorite people in my favorite place on earth eating steak my Dad cooked. You can’t beat that with any restaurant, ever.

  • SaraMHCRU

Don’t remember specifics, but the best would have to be a long time ago, backyard bbq with family and friends. Worst would probably be something at a mediocre restaurant trying to be fancy.
