A local grocer had it for $7 too, so you can’t beat that. I’ll be at a wedding though so I’ll drink whatever they’re pouring.

Their tables are barely enough to contain you. En fuego, dare I say.

Hold up … is that ’90 Aigle Blanc the same as the ’90 Aigle Blanc at WL?

Hey, that’s my SUPER FAVE 1990 vouvray!!!!! I’ve been picking it up for about $20 at a local wine shop, and we have about 7 bottles in our cellar. (had to pause WLTV because I was so excited, but now I’m going back to see if it gets a good review) πŸ™‚

QOTD: Send off ’07 with a BOMB, something Aussie would be fitting. Maybe an older Two Hand’s Lily’s Garden.

Oh, sorry. QOD: the Agrapart “Les 7 Crus” I picked up there last year. Have to have some champagne, because otherwise it can be hard finding an excuse to crack some as what are you going to do with a whole bottle otherwise if it’s the middle of the week or something?

I liked William. True, at the very beginning of the show he did seem to display a discomfiting lack of affect and I thought he might have a few neighborhood teens locked in a spotlighted bunker in a one-family home in Yonkers, maybe even forcing them to dance in his self-choreographed MTV-style videos, plying them with some bottles of 2002 Bordeaux lifted from The Carlyle, but then by mid-show, I thought differently.

I feel like the lesson of the last two shows is that “restaurant wines” are less than desireable wines, or at least not the most desirable wines, that restaurants buy up at bargain prices and then sell them for larger profits. Anyone agree?

Bill was probably the best guest speaker yet. In his calm manner he handled GV’s spasticness in a smooth way, and definitely held his own in the witty remarks dept. Most others try to match GV’s nervous energy and get amped themselves not showing their true personality. Great job to both of you. Keep it up!

QOTD: Only one bottle of wine on New Year’s Eve????? πŸ™‚ We actually usually have a really nice sake on New Year’s Eve, since our tradition is to make sushi at home. We’ll probably open up some bubbly, or else grab something special to try, like the 2006 Amon Ra.

  • QOTD: Hmm… I’m still working on the Christmas wine list! But since Bill wants to know, Probably start with the 2004 Clos des Andes (Argentine Malbec) because we’re going to have some savory grilled beef cube and veggies cooked using skewers (we like stand up dinners, like finger foods in size, but heftier), and always serve things like dark chocolates, blueberries, black grapes, and stawberries. Then maybe once the dinner is done, while wating for the champagne moment, 2003 Vin de Pays d”Oc Jean-Louis Denois “Chloé” because it is totally yummy on its own, and I have some. For the toast, Fleury “Carte Rouge” Brut Champagne. Sorry, I know they mostly aren’t wine library wines, but….

I enjoyed this episode a lot, largely becauase of Bill the sommelier. He reminds me a lot of myself, only better dressed. LOL Oh, and I don’t think he knows who Green Arrow is. Here’s a link for him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Arrow
