line of the day -there are loads of classic lines today but I had to choose one and here it is; (referring to a wine and Gingerbread house pairing) -‘kind of like a couple that have been married for a while, both laying in bed reading, not really doing anything’ (wink wink)

Wacky fun episode with loads of quotable lines. As a non-American the gingerbread house is such an American product…’hollywood food’

Decent show! I am a Sauternes fan. I am not surprised that the gingerbread house was a difficult pairing. There are a lot of flavors going on in that little chateau.

QOTD – Double chocolate layer cake with chocolate frosting, just the way my wife makes it!

What about the gingerbread house and Gewurztraminer match??? I thought the spiciness in the Gwertz would go well with the ginger??

QOTD: Cheese, coffee, wine … a single square of dark chocolate

    Cheers

My favorite dessert is a three layered chocolate ganache cake made by the
Mystic Market in Mystic, CT! It has chocolate mousse in between the layers and is to die for!

I just started watching your show in Oct. It’s great and I consider myself
more knowledgeable and a big fan!!!
    Happy New Year!!

Hey Gary…first off I think you are totally CRAZY! in a good way of course. I have been watching you for a while, actually February of this year and this is my first comment. I love that you are incredibly knowledgeable of wines and I did want to you ask you a question. My favorite dessert is new york cheesecake…no frills plain new york cheesecake. I was wondering what is a wine that you would recommend for that. I just finished watching this episode and I know you love the CHateau Rabaud Promis but are there any others that you would pair with cheesecake? Thanks.

    QOTD
favorite dessert is a small and very intense chocolate truffle (see vosges).

I’m too lazy to scroll through all the comments, but i’ve always thought plummy wines were a good compliment to ginger. More of an old world guy than new world but still, they all have their place. Anyone?

    For AM

I am not Gary, but I would say, any wine that tastes like it would be a good topping on the cheesecake would be a good wine to drink with it. Berries? Milk chocolate? What turns your crank?

QOTD: My favorite dessert…I think it depends on the time of year, but I generally like pies. Key Lime in warm months, pecan pie with brandied whipped cream in cool months. Throw in some of grandma’s Christmas cookies, a derby pie, rice pudding, and I think I’ve got the dessert bases covered.

Nice idea for a show…. I had a feeling the Sauternes was going to take the crown. Of course I am biased because I love Sauternes. QOTD: Flourless chocolate cake paired with a 20 year port or better. Thats just heaven to me.

nice idea for a programme…the sauternes are great most of the time, but why not try other sweet white wines like Jurançon?
favourite dessert : belgian chocolate mousse, what else for a Belgian? ;-))

QOTD: Best dessert wine i’ve tried was a small sample of 1969 Rivesaltes Baixas D’Agly, nuts and caramel for days! There aren’t many puddings I don’t like, cakes, pies, crumbles, buns and all that good stuff!
