Great show. My “house wine” changes pretty frequently based on various things but, right now, the red is St. Francis Claret 2002 and the white is Columbia Crest Grand Estates Chard. 2005.

Hell yeah, Gary, come down to the Raleigh-Durham area! I’ve really been liking the Pillar Box White for an “everyday” white.

  • Gary tries to rep hard for the dubs (that’s code for Walla Walla), but it’s all talk, no follow through.

Come to this town, there’s great wineries littered throughout the downtown area, not to mention the AmericanWinery.com offices, lots of fun places, great wine, people and more, but without the attitude of Cali… 😉

By the way, Walla Walla is pretty sweet. Come this direction for a few days and THEN hit North Carolina.

  • QOTD: No real go-to-wine. There is way too many new things to try. I do, however, occasionally like to quaff some shiraz-viognier.

  • Dave Canada

    Nice show…….

Hi dude – QOD – Nero D’avola …. found a number of them that are inexpensive ($8 – 14), that are enjoyable with or without food… Go Sicily!

Glad you did a show on inexpensive cabs. We’ve found a couple, a bit over $10 that we like.

NC might be a bit far for us…depends on when. It’s within a few hundred miles. Charlotte is closer for us but I love Asheville.

QOTD: Not any one wine. We are always trying new things. Some we keep around are Bogle Petite Syrah, OVZ, several GSMs – Mr. Black’s Concoction for one. 377 Cab, Big House Red…always adding and changing.

  • Yessss, so pleased you are coming here to the Boston expo, I’ve never been either, but heck should be a rocking good time. I can’t wait to go to the WL table and meet Gary!
Yes, us Patriots fans will be (or should be if all the chips fall as they should) even more obnoxious at that point, nyuk-nyuk.

QOTD: I don’t have a ‘house’ wine as am fairly new to, er, oenophilia and am just learning and tasting all the different varieties. Tried another CA chardonnay this evening and damn that was so oaked too, I seem to be very sensitive to it (taste of oak)… I like big fruit but can’t stand new charry-oak.

  • orion

I try to try different wines all the time. Don’t really have a go-to. I’m a fan of what the French have to offer though. Gotta hit up the Loire regularly.

QOD: Henry’s Drive Pillar Box Red and Wrongo Dongo.

I like the big ass glass.

Good show gary! I don’t really have a everyday wine. Right now I am trying to look for one and trying different wines everytime I drink. But I guess if I find one like these under $10, it will be house wine for visitors, but not be; I like good stuff and tasting different stuff.

  • Fiorentina!

Hey Gary…Fun show. Ya know around this price point I like the Avalon Cab. and EOS Cab.
    QotD-
I really don’t have an everyday “go to” wine because it’s not what I’m about. I like to experience new wines from all over. Currently I’m traveling the world of Rose wines. I’ve had a few Tavel roses, Provence, Languedoc, South America, CA, and South Africa.
So far I’ve really enjoyed the Roses from Tavel and looking forward to trying more roses from that region.

QOTD: One of the great things about living in Hong Kong is the international nature of the wines avaliable (this is certainly not the case in your average Australia wine shop). Reds I’m very open and always trying as many new things as I can. Whites I tend to lean to Reisling and Semillon, but again I’m pretty open to trying new things.

QOTD: Don’t really have an everyday wine. I order too much from you…but probably drink more 2005 David Bruce Petite Sirah then anything else. So, I hope that helps.

  • Tom T.

I think you should make a “Changing the wine world whether they like it or not”
T-SHIRT. QOTD – tough question, but if I have one “go to” wine it would be the 2001 Ruffino Gold Reserve Chianti for red, and the 2005 Pierre a Feu Touraine for white (of which I hope you get more in stock).

  • Tim Vining

QOTD: I do not want to fall into a wine rut and being new to wine tasting, I still have lots to try. However, in the past two weeks I discovered a wine for $9.95(CN) that I have been introducing to friends called La Patriarche 2005 Syrah and Pinot Noir.

  • Thanks Gary
