  • Nice to hear about some good values – maybe its time for another blind tasting across price points? please?

QOTD: Chenin blancs from around the world, Barberas, SW-French and Spanish reds…

Silverado Trail of Napa Valley. Awesome wines, but they don’t carry the price tag of Highway 29.

  • Come On, Gary! You said you could do a different great bottle of wine each day of the year. I’m settling on a new bottle every two days and feel guilty when I wind up backtracking on one I’ve already had.

QOD- there are far too many wines in this world to have one go to wine!

Gary, if you go to NC, I will drive down from Maryland. Deal? Huh? *tap-tap* This thing on???

QOTD: I am also trying to try new stuff as often as possible no I don’t have an everyday wine or style. However, if you made me buy a case of something inexpensive “to have around the house”, it would probably be Leo Hillinger Small Hill from Austria or Spier Pinotage for red and/or one of a few Vouvray for white.

While your palate & mine tend to mostly agree on most wines, however…. MY palate enjoyed the Excelsior Cab as much as any $8 wine I’ve ever had. *shrug* I’ll definitely buy it again, because I’m buying wine to please my palate.

QOTD: I don’t really have an ‘everyday / go-to’ wine. I seldom drink the same wine twice, even those I love a lot. I’m a ‘novelty’ freak (meaning I like to experience new things), so I’m constantly trying new wines almost every bottle I open, because there are just too many out there… that I haven’t sampled yet. Feel like I can’t have a ‘go-to’ wine or else I’ll never get around to trying all the ones I want to try. Maybe in a few years when I have more experience and a broader reportoire of tasted wines, I’ll start relying more on repeats, but not yet.

  • If WL comes to North Carolina, I’d go.

QOTD: I don’t really have an everyday wine. It could be Pinotage or South Africa in general if I had a bigger wine budget, but as-is I just tend to jump around aimlessly.

I don’t see the point in having a everyday wine, with so many to choose from today. I was drinking a lot from Chile but after I tried a Selvapiana Chianti, I experienced something that made me order their reserve from you. That something is called “delicious”. Thanks again.

QOTD – New Zealand Sauv Blanc. NVSB? It’s so easy and predictable. $10 and you’re in. For reds I go to Australian Shiraz. Both are low price points and high QPR.

Mark and I would definitely come to an NC wine party if you hosted one. Go wolfpack

6 million people in the Dallas-Fort Worth area (lots of Vayniacs) you need to make a trip to the Big D sometime soon.

QOTD: used to be the Greg Norman Limestone Coast Cab Merlot. Great wine and a great value. However, since finding out about your show a few months ago, I’m trying new stuff all the time.

Mainly different blends or cabs from Washington State but we do have a few cases of a 2003 Duck Pond Carbanet that we tap into on a daily basis. Our cost with discounts average $5.50 a bottle. It is a nice drinker, but I would be curious to see what you thought.

QOTD: Don’t have one. I work at a wine store and try new wines every week and every time I buy wine, I buy something different. There are over 5000 grape varieties…why drink the same wine every day?
