Gary, I need you back. Without your direction I drank two boxes of Almaden Mountain Chablis. (We like the customers who call it CHab-lis.)

  • An IQ of 140? Did you cheat on that test like the Pats cheat to win games? How can you be that intelligent and still make more grammatical errors than a 5-year-old? Maybe you just forgot the decimal point. Here’s what your real score was: 1.40

I’d say “GO JAGS” but we all know that Jacksonville’s playbooks are in the coach’s office at Foxboro.

    OK.

Now I’m starting to analyze the structure of Welch’s Grape Juice. Nice nose though. Really fruity. A little one dimensional though. 87 points? Drink now.

    Help!
(I hope you and your family are doing well.)

  • GV – interesting that you can get over 1,000 comments when you give away a big azz bottle of wine (Silver Oak no less), but when you take a couple days off only a meager handfull of regulars and wannabes chime in. Guess everyone was more interested in the New Hampshire Caucus'(a big NOT) unless you are rooting for Obama, Oh yeah, wine and politics, now we are talking. Bring on the Thunder !!!

    Hey Gary,
Loved the immigrant mother-made Jets jersey for the lil’ GV! It reminded me of my own Latvian grandmother who made me a Care Bear that I wanted back when I was about 6 back in the mid-80s. It was a pink teddy bear with a white belly that she stitched on a big rainbow. I totally knew it was a fake, but had to give props to her for making it work. How sweet.

“CRZYWinemaker” is right. It’s interesting that only a few of us are here. I doubt it’s the NH primary nor any post-holiday absences. But still, GV is MIA. Is anyone up for organizing a rescue task force?

Gary, is everything alright with you? Haven’t seen you for a few days, miss your show a lot.

Forgot to introduce myself, I’m Peter from Hong Kong and I’m studying in the UK. I started to fall in love with wine when I first got to the UK, around 2 years ago. I first noticed your show on youtube, I think it’s great as it is very informative to all kind of wine lovers. I watched most of your past episodes on youtubes. I especially like the episodes on the wine knownledge, such as decanting, how wine glasses affect the appreciation of wine and so on. Here is a little request from me, can you do an episode on wine aging, such as how to determine how long a wine can age for and how it is going to be evolved in terms of the balance. Thanks a lot.

Wine and your show bring the thunder!

Believe GV mentioned in Friday’s episode that he was leaving with Liz for the week. Still hurts though not to have new episodes. Try archived shows to appease the “need” for the Thundershow. GV/Mott–how about a quick note when to expect the next NEW Thundershow? GV–if you are on a vacation–enjoy!

I can’t think of a person that needs a break more than Gary. I just hope that he is enjoying his vacation with his wife and not answering EMails or preparingfor new shows! For as hard as Gary works on the show I think we should all let him breathe a little!!!

I haven’t tried the Sbragia SauvBlanc, but I gave Ed’s 2003 Home Ranch Merlot a sniffy sniff/sippy sip last night. Wow, what a nicely made wine. Well balanced with great layering and length. Lots of jammy red and black fruits up front with a little bit of licorice and chocolate sneaking in as it evolved. It also had a nice hint of smokeyness. There are enough tannins to let it lay for awhile, but this is drinking beautifully now. It got even better when paired with a couple dark chocolate truffles.

If you get the opportunity, give it a try. Don’t listen to “Sideways” advice, drink this f’ing Merlot.
