Liked the show – Joanne is good in front of the camera and who hasn’t tasted cat food in their bubbly? Next time you go on a vacation and leave the Vaynernation Vaynerless for a week, have some web 2.0 guest hosts pop in.

You (Joanne, not Gary) are so absolutely charming. Thank you for gracing WLTV.

It was amazing to watch Joanne’s reactio to your intro! Had to watch it over.

No idea as to QOTD, but I forgive her. Very classy addition to the show and very enjoyable. I loved it when she started out reacting to Gary’s descriptions by saying “There is none of those flavors actually in there so what do you mean”! Then by the end she was doing some pretty good descriptors herself!

  • Sorry, Gary, I’m not going to have as much time to watch WineLibraryTV anymore. I’ll be watching Joanne over on Rocketboom first! 😉

QOTD: The only full question she got out was “What color was Gary wearing on his first show.” It’s either a black are dark blue sweater.

Bit scary, huh GV, to have a guest who really tells you what a wine really smells and tastes like — not like the ‘yes gary, your right gary’ staff and guests.

Portly port may make Guinness record book
Oakland Tribune, May 21, 2005 by Brian Foley, STAFF WRITER

CASTRO VALLEY — Would you like a brick of cheese with that bottle of wine?

The San Francisco Bay Wine Auction — tonight under the caves of Wente Vinyards in Livermore — will feature lots of wine, of course. But only one bottle was submitted to the Guinness World Records for review.

“I was talking to members of the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association and someone said, ‘That’s the biggest bottle of port I have ever seen,” said Bill Smyth, owner of Westover Winery on Palomares Road.

The 40-pound bottle contains over three gallons of 50-year-old port. The difference between port and other wine is the alcohol content. Port has added brandy.

“We added 168-proof brandy, so it’s a very sweet wine,” he said. “The association comes up with these big bottles, and puts wine in them. But no one has ever put port in them, which is a more expensive wine. This bottle is bigger than one of my dogs.”

It holds $960 worth of port, but the bottle itself makes the whole package worth more than $2,000.

When asked if someone would actually drink from an oversized bottle, Smyth said, “Oh yeah, definitely. These are real wine drinkers.”

The 11th annual wine auction is open to the general public at $50 a ticket. It will feature 100 different packages to bid on, and it is expected to raise as much as $300,000. The dinner will draw 370 people at $250 a plate.

“It’s a black-tie event,” Smyth said. “Some of the wealthiest of the wealthiest from the area will be there.”

Excellent effort in including an English-French cat-loving female on the show. Next step – one who can drink more than 3 sips without fear of passing out. It’s good to know your limits though. I laugh, but I sympathize.

I hope Gary does another episode where Joanne takes a bucket of Petit Verdot grapes and slathers them all over Gary’s bottom, then squishes some in her hair and they become possessed by a Dionysian frenzy and then sing.

That rocket behind you reminds me of something….what is it…?
    Hmmmm……
    I just can’t place it.

The star of this episode was GIGGLES – Geez! Not a fan of the two-sips-tipsy cohost, but it was definitely interesting. I didn’t even hear the QOTD because I was too busy groaning.

    “Jello.” Loved that part. lol.

One of my favorite episodes so far. It’d be cool to have Joanne on the show again. You guys have great chemistry.

Joanne, will we see Gary on Rocketboom next? 🙂

  • JamesW

Still watching but I think you should get the original (Amanda) on their too.

BTW – I think she underestimates the intelligence and vocabulary of Vayner-nation. You can’t lose me with “hedonistic”. Grr…

  • Stacy B.

Let me guess, the Web 2.0 guests of 2008 will all coincidently be within driving distance of the Wine Library TV office?
