Gary, thanks for everything. I know what you mean when you say you have too many projects going on. Just from my end I run a business, have a family, am on call 24/7, have a wife who is fantastic, have employees who need my attention, and then there is maybe some time left for ME. I don’t know how you do it. I hope some day the wife and you get the greatest gift of all…..a child. That will be a life changing event.

QOTD: One of the best things I have done was backup with some friends for 3 days through the upper areas of Michigan. We had a great time, enjoyed the company, and escaped from the routines of college life. You learn about people when you listen. This is much easier to do when you remove yourself from the everyday grind.

So glad you’re staying. I was honestly a little depressed when I heard the bad news.

I am so relieved, Gary, you have started me tasting so many different wines, especially the obscure ones.

QOTD: a week-long trip to Ireland.

Dud you are killing me. I am watching this on Friday night and I just watched Wednesday, Thursday and today’s show. All I can say is Whoo Hoo!

QOTD: Yeah, team sports experiences were a lot of fun. And the house parties we threw when I was a 20-something.

Great episode. You finally got me Gaz – I don’t recall ever trying a Sagrantino but the way you describe the tannins, they sound right up my alley. Give me a little sandpaper in the mouth, a little velcro action between my cheek and gum and I’m a happy, happy man.

Relieved to hear you’re staying on the air. I always enjoy how, when you taste a wine you really really like, you start off in subdued, serious tones, then raise the voice a little, then explode into rip-roarin’ Gary that we all love. Like with the Pagliaro Secco review today – classic Vaynerchuk.

QOTD: Huh, well, I had a couple of good relationships that didn’t end in marriage (thus they weren’t family). And of course watching and contributing comments to WLTV is right up there (or am I part of the Vayniac family, disqualifying that one?)

  • garyh

hey Gary! i’ve been a lurker for a while – love the show. i can imagine doing the show everyday is difficult. maybe doing shows 3x a week instead fo 5 might give us vaniacs just enough of wltv to get by while giving you a bit more time for other stuff. no need to be all or nothing!
i had never heard of these wines. i’ve really gotten excited about barolo and barbaresco wines lately – looks like these might be right up my alley.

qotd: when i was in my early 20s, i moved to interior alaska just for an adventure, forming some long lasting friendships in the process. several years later, i rode a bike down the pacific coast with friends, having one of the truly pleasant times of my life. several years later i got an apartment in nice and did a french language immersion course, making lots of friends from europe and asia in the process. these are a few that immediately come to mind.

I’m so glad to know that you’re not leaving us, Gary! We know how much must go into the Thunder Show… it’s a big burden to do a new show every day. What’s more, you’re so in demand as a wine celeb, shakin’ hands and kissin’ babies. I don’t think any of us would mind if you scaled it back a bit, doing fewer shows per week, if it means that we can keep our beloved Gary VAY…NER…CHUK around for another few years. Also, thanks for the response to my email and the shout out to Ellen on her 50th birthday… if it weren’t for Ellen I never would have found you (yes, all you veterans, I’m a newbie).

Thanks for another great show and peaking my interest in yet another grape I have never tried.
QOTD: Working at the Special Olympics, by far the most rewarding thing I have ever been involved with..by far!

  • GR8wine

    GV,
First of all, WHEEEWWW, huge sigh of relief! I was starting to go into a panic that you were terminating the Thundershow. However I understand if it’s getting in the way of other higher priorities. If it ever starts becoming a burden, maybe a compromise like 1 or 2 shows a week instead of cold turkey?

Great show as always. Last week my wine shop offered me some Montefalco and it sounded so tempting. I even did some research on the area. I think I’ll have to go back and get some.

GV, if it is 1 show a week or one show a month, we are all watchers forever!
    Thanks

  • There we go. Now I can go back to lurking. Just kidding! That’s good news for a friday. Super-cool episiode too. Three days in a row you’ve been crankin’ out the great wine and doing some very cool tastings with it.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!! Thanks GV

QOTD: I’ll have to really think about that one for a while. I’ll answer at episode 500.

I’m fairly new to this show and I was just getting started. I was disappointed that you were calling it quits. So, Glad to hear your not going anywhere. It was your show that got me to try the Chocalan Reserva. Thank you for that and keep up the good work.

And you know what, although I like in CA. I’m from MA and a Pats fan. I still think your a pretty cool guy 🙂

Dude I have been so bumming it all day thinking that soon I won’t be seeing the Thunder Show anymore! Thank you for deciding to keep it going! I can’t tell you how much of an influence you have had on my wine learning experience! I tell all my friends that they gotta check you out! God bless you man! You are the wine bomb!
QOTD: Thats a hard one. I have more than one experience! I have been a nurse for almost 18 yrs working with cancer patients. I have so many memories of so many awesome cool people I have taken care of that no longer are with us.

What would of happened if George Lucas after wrapping up the filming of Star Wars said…”Well, it was a good movie but I have alot of other things that I am working on so a sequel or a trilogy for that matter is just not in the cards.” The world would just not be the same without Gary V. continuing to change the wine world!

    gary,

i want you to know, i was up all night last night making supplications to the Wine Gods. i sacrificed a bull, a lamb, and a dove. and tonight…my prayers were heard. i think i can safely speak for all the vayner nation when i say “HELL YEA! GARY V IS BACK BABY!!”

  • Kmarie

Oh, and the QOTD: I went to the country of Georgia to run some arts and social justice workshops, and got to experience the beauty of the people and country there. Georgia is the BIRTHPLACE OF WINE, you know! I got to drink wine made in people’s back yards, and brought home some of the greatest, most raw and riveting wines I’d ever tasted. You should do a show on Georgian wines if you can ever get your hands on some.
