qotd: All I really know about is some of their wines, and the main reason for me goin there would be to see the wineries. The history would be nice too
Wow just had a bottle of Chateau D'Auvernier Neuchatel yesterday. LOVE that you threw the spotlight on Switzerland wines, some killer quality there, wines that aren't explored nearly as much as they should be, but the prices are high.

One thing, Chasselas is not ONLY in Switzerland, it's made as a varietal in Alsace, the one made by Domaine Schoffitt is particularly good. Also you can find it under the Pouilly-Sur-Loire appellation in Eastern Loire Valley France too.

Great show…Maybe GV could watch the show again and learn how to “swirl” elegantly like Sophie 🙂 I’d certainly like to visit Switzerland mainly to experience nature’s beauty and learn more about their culture as well as drink some fine wine and eat all kind of fine chocolate. My only swiss wine experience so far was with Zweigelt but I tend to seek more varieties from there…Cheers

QOTD: Great stuff, and good to see guests like Ms. Grosjean on WLTV.
I’ve been in Switzerland only once. We visited Interlaken, Gimmelwald, and Berne. I remember a train ride we had that went along the shore of Lake Geneva and through a lot of vineyards, through the town of Morges. It was a beautiful sight, and one I’ve carried with me a long time. My wife spent a month in Morges training in music; we’d both love to go back… and try the wine this time!

I have always wanted to go skiing in Switzerland.

Cheese Fondue?! Flash back to 1972. Oh wait, I wasn’t born yet.

The Oak Monster scared me! i thought that poor woman wasn’t ready for the Oak Monster but she handled herself well.

Thanks for coming on the Thunder Show.

QOTD: I think it would be fun to visit Switzerland. I’ve heard great things from some friends who stopped by as part of a larger trip around Europe and went hang gliding. It sounded like a lot of fun.

  • CoolHandLuke

Just read Anthony L’s comment and laughed my ass off! Ricola nailed it!

My daughter plans to spend a semester in Switzerland next fall at hotel school. If that’s not a compelling reason to visit, I don’t know what one is. Plus I got a raclette grill recently as a birthday present, and I enjoy hiking. Sounds like a slam dunk. But I wish Switzerland weren’t so expensive.

Interesting that GV liked all the wines today. I’ll have to keep an eye out for Swiss wines.

QOTD: I’ve been to Switzerland. It’s a beautiful country. And all that talk about taking pride in their craftsmanship is true.

Always amazed to see how well the foreign folks speak English…well…I’m a foreigner myself, but I pretty much grew up here…so as for today’s show, again, a novel information that I’m very thankful to have gained gratis. I doubt I’ll try them any time soon since the gist of the show was that they’re legitimate wines but you can procure something of similar quantity with much less bones. QOTD: unfortunately, I hardly know anything about Switzerland, as I said, I doubt I’d try your wine anytime soon (though it’s always my goal to try something at least twice…so hopefully eventually I will)…and I’ll probably visit Sweden before Switzerland. thunder thunder thunder cats! huhoooooooooooooooooh~

Switzerland is not the only place Chassela is made, Berthoud of Sonoma makes a good one and without all that Pretense. When you do your Sir Gary shtick you should invite her back. Now that would be two peas in a pod.

Being a in British Columbia, I’ve been lucky enough to have a local Pinot Blanc/Chasselas mix by Quail’s Gate winery – a real treat.

QOTD – after having 40 y/o vines grown in Canada, I would love to try Chasselas from it’s home country. Although some may see it as neutral, I would love to try the “real thing” “:)

QOTD: I was sent to Basel Switzerland once for work.

I practically fell in love with the place. It is clearly the confluence of cultures, yet the Swiss-ness of this border town still shone through. And the best oart was being just a stone’s throw away from French cuisine in Moulhouse, France. If it weren’t for the November snows, I might have thought about staying there. (Sorry, I was born in CA.)

Interesting perspectives from your guest. Thanks for having her on the show.

  • It would be great to see the Alps, although it would be quit a long trip just to sight see. I don’t know much at all about Switzerland so I would need a great tour guide that could accommodate me with a castle suite. Of course I would try the wine especially with swiss cheese and I’m sure I would enjoy the culture which sounds laid back and friendly.

Hey Gary keep bringing the cute girls on, a little eye candy never hurts the thunder…

QOTD- I like the idea of clean grapes. Very Swiss! Swiss Chocolate and Bird’s Eye while watching the sun set on the Matterhorn. I am ready to go.

Most dessert wines seem to start sweet and finish with a rush of acidity for me. So this Pinot Girs sounds intriguing. Starts with acidity and finishes with a touch of sweetness. I like the sound of it.

Gary, I like the pretty faces (with something to say) lately! (not including AJ. I’m not saying girls wouldn’t think so, just doesn’t do it for me.)

    Hilarious.

Much love to all the guests who risk being taken down on the Thunder Show.
QOTD: I’ve been sold on Switzerland for some time and am just waiting till my bank manager says I have enough mula to afford the trip. But man, what an amazing country for wine. In between, Italy, Germany, France, Austria and California! Too bad they’re so expensive and low production.

Tom E killed it with the Thunder Cat.
