Totally agree about the heat problem, would have had a great cab yesterday if it wasn't for the heat from the 14.9 alcohol completely killing it.

Too late Gary! But I like the late episodes, isn’t that weird?

QOTD: Heck yeah I will be participating, but not because of some giveaway – I just want the Thunder Show to grow. I started watching the show out of curiousity, but now I can honestly say – That I want to help change the wine world. But more importantly, help make this a WINE WORLD!!!

    Good episode Gary!

Thank you very much, GV, for doing a meatless episode! The likely future Mrs. Machine is of the veggie persuasion. My personal experience has been that the tastiest foods are often the most cruel, but we’re discussing starting to eat in more and she’s a better cook…

Falafel wines is a great idea, perhaps a way of life. I’m so with you on the alsace. There just so many good houses-Deiss, Ostertag, Zind-Humbrecht, Kuentz Bas, Weinbach-how could you go wrong?

QOTD: Email a show to my boss who’s the king of cool, and by next week you’ll be big in Japan.

You’re little tangent about rosé in Provence took me back. I had exactly the same experience. Sitting around talking with an old french guy who was smoking a pipe while enjoying a bottle of rosé and taking in the view and smells of Provence. It’s an incredible place.

For my part in spreading the thunder I plan on creating an actual electrical storm. It will be very Tesla-esque on the nose.

if you leave any wine oxidized for 5-6 days it will start falling apart no question regardless of the producer or grape. theres a reason restaurants dont sell their great producers and wines by the glass.
love the wine selection today, definitely agree 15%+ alcohol is just way too much for any wine especially an “elegant” viognier varietal.
QOTD; been spreading the word, got my step father watching the show, as well as my best friend, whom have no obsession like i have for wine, but share a common interest.

I am a semi vegetarian. The Gewürztraminer sounded good but I personally like the reds. In fact I used some of the Lily you tasted last week to tart up some vegetarian chili. And to thin out some tomato sauce for a lasagna. Very tasty! And it well with both dishes, too. Proseco would be a nice white.

Great show, even better than usual. And you’ve really raised the bar with guests and different topics – like wines for veggies!
Gewurz is a great love and I think you nailed it. In addition, some of my favorite gewurz also have roses and lichee.
BTW – There’s that saying everything tastes like chicken; I guess that now includes overexposed wines?

  • bh

wow, good show today. i like this trend of tryin’ stuff that’s been sitting around for a few days… keep doing it, maybe you can put the whole ridiculous vaccum pumping thing to bed.

qotd: my tivo is biting the dust so i just might have to spread a little thunder…

I hope the Mets enjoy Johan, stupid trade.

Nice article in the Washington Post.

QOTD: I work at a liquor store on monday so I am going to try to tell some of the regular customers that purchase wine on a constant basis to come on here and join the ranks. Notice a lot of customers purchasing the same kind or even same brand (Yellow Tail) wines each week, want them to wake up and smell (sniffy sniff) the wine world.

You’re back, GV! High energy, great selection – even the 5-day-old bottle as an experiment. Fantastic!

qotd: not sure ’bout Monday, but I’m psyched for the 400th. Yea!!!
