Totally agree about the heat problem, would have had a great cab yesterday if it wasn't for the heat from the 14.9 alcohol completely killing it.

Gary, Excellent show! I’m a diehard Mac user, and I’m dying for one of those Apple TVs. I really have to think hard about how I’m goign to spread the thunder… it’s got to be creative and effective all at the same time.

BTW, did you see the NY Times article today about state laws regarding shipping? I live in Indiana, a black hole for wine shipment. Sigh. I wish I could spread the thunder by getting Indiana to revoke these blue laws.

Thanks a million for doing this. I am a long-time vegetarian and have always had to find my own way for wine-food pairings. I really like a good Shiraz/Syrah with spicy vegetarian foods, including Indian and Middle Eastern and Mediterranean foods.

I would love to participate, and I will try my best. But honestly Gary, everyone I know has already heard plenty about you and has checked out the show. The only possibility I have left is to start talking up my customers. I visit just about every hospital in the Chicago area south of the city and suburbs. I will put in a good word.

Also Gary, I do a LOT of driving every day, and I would love to help by putting something on my car. Maybe a “Mott…Link it up!” bumper sticker.

  • Love the Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food – the freshness can’t be beat and the flavors are simple but wonderful. I’ve enjoyed chenin blanc most with this kind of food, but have also had some Greek whites that went exceptionally well.
Keep up the food theme, it’s great to see how different wines pair with a variety of food.

So, we can trade you Santana, but we can’t buy the grape from you. What is up with that my man? We live in Minnesota, what the hell can we do for you? Go outside in our underwear? it’s 15 below!

(I’ll do it for some swag…)

What in THE holy hell is a “BabaGamoosh”, much less a “Hoomus”? I’m guessing the latter is a vegetable from Whoville. For good BabaGamoosh, roast 2 eggplants on a grill till the outside is burnt black. Scrape out the inside into a bowl which should have the consistancy of wet, gooey, uberripe bananas. Take about a teaspoon of cumin seeds, toast a bit in a toaster oven or skillet, grind to powder in coffee grinder. Add juice of one lemon, 1/2 cup tahini, 1 med totally smashed garlic clove, and salt to taste. Mix and yummy BabaGamoosh. Use vegees or tortilla chips to dip.

Gotta spread the Thunder. I’m not very multimedia savy, so I think a blog is in order. And a good gewurz can turn a day around.

I gotta say, I love white wines from Alsace. Can’t get enough of Rieslings and Gewurztraminers from there.

    GV. Great episode.

QOTD: I don’t have a blog, does a facebook ‘note’ count? I can blast an email out to 5000 people telling them to tune into the show! 🙂

I am going to do whatever it takes to get an Apple-TV, like I could put a note on the frig or tell my facebook pals (both of them) I know, I could attach a link to my work email, no anything with the word is blocked…well I’ll think of something and it will be good…well pretty good.

Very interesting episode…I really like it when you try the different grapes and the food pairings. I am learning a ton about how wine and food can work together in ways I never thought. Can you do a seafood and nontraditional pairings?

QOTD: I will figure something out.

GV, Great show today, don’t let the cat out of the bag though on Viognier. It is my favorite white wine and you can get some great wines for good value until too many people open their big mouths and then it will explode like Pinot Noir and we will be paying 25 bones for a mediocre wine.
QOTD: Already have my draft e-mail addressed with your link to shoot out to all my wine and beer drinking friends. By Monday I should have over 25 addresses on it.

I watch Wine Library for wine knowledge and to see the Thunder, and today the Thunder was delivered! I like it! Loved the show! I recently tried a white wine last night. The first time in 6 months. It was Montecillo 2005, Rioja, and it gave me a reason to start buying white wines. I more so loved the fact that I didn’t not like it and it being another pazzz, (for my pallet). Congrats on the WashPost Art. Oh… Vegetarian Epsd was a bad-ass idea, since its not such a bad-ass idea to limit your diet a lot of meat intake. Trans-fats will kill ya young.

QOTD: I want to show support, and feel absent if I don’t. Lack of knowledge on creating a blog, and submitting videos. Will do some homework though, and will see what I can come up with.

Yay! I’ve been waiting for this show since I first caught the Thunder! I do feel left out at times when I read/hear about wines and they are paired with food because it is almost never vegetarian. Thanks so much for considering the Veggies in this show.

QOTD: In New Orleans, next Monday is Lundi Gras, the day before Mardi Gras. I can assure you there will be plenty of libations consumed, so I will take full advantage of the occasion to spread the Thunder!

great show, even more applicable to my life than usual since I am a vegetarian! i definitely want to a little more experimenting with the types of white you sampled today. especially alsatian whites. thanks for the jump start!

qotd: i don’t really know how to set up a blog page, and i don’t have video taping capabilities, but…i will post something on myspace, and tell as many people as i can about the show at the wine store i work at. can’t be too persuasive though because they might stop buying from us. your prices are better than ours. ha.
