  • Grape Expectations

LOVE the image of little wino elves snarfing the open bottles every night!

QOTD: I’ve been drinking more white wine that I did before and certainly more grapes that I’d never heard of pre-WLTV–albarino, falanghina, torremones . . . Thanks, GV, for making the my wine world bigger.

  • Tim

Like a lot of people I’m trying different wines than the usual cab sauv or syrah. I’m decanting. I still like reds more than whites but I’ve also tasted a couple pinot grigios and a sauv blanc that I like.

Well thank God I started leaving comments..haha. Love laid back fridays. I have had the Falesco Vitiano a number of times, and that always gets good scores from Parker and Spectator. I have been pretty happy with it, but not blown away.

QOTD: Don’t want to kiss too much ass, but watching your show has honestly changed me. I work in wine retail, and rely way too heavily on scores. both in selling and buying. anyway, the show has made me really trust my own palate more, and get back to just enjoying wine, and sharing passion with our clients. that is what people really look for anyway.

So wasn’t the wine you tasted just like the note on the bottle, besides the “ripe and forward” of course. Ripe and forward on the palatte as on the nose. Based on your opinion of the wine, I would say the nose was just as good as how the wine is on the palatte.

QOTD: I just got into wine a month and a half ago so the question is not as relevant to me, but I believe that this show is starting me on the right foot to get into the wine world. I have been trying all different wines from all different areas. Thanks for all the great tips and for a great show.

    GVNC,

The biggest change in the last 6 months was to go from applying to a top law school to enrolling in wine making school here in Seattle instead. I blame you. I have been in love with wine for 20 years and it just never occurred to me that it could become such a big part of my life. Again, I blame you. I am very happy lately. I blame you for a third time. Thanks, man. You do ROCK.

I have bought a LOT of wine but I had never bought any online until I started watching WLTV. I have always thought my nose and pallet are about as sensitive as a brick…and have always liked the tasting scale of the Wall Street Journal Weekend section “yech, OK good, very good, delicious, and delicious!” My aspiriation is to develop my pallet and nose more.

WLTV is a great service to ALL wine lovers!!

QOTD: My palate has really expanded. What really did it for me, even though I was branching out more beforehand, was Xmas eve at my girlfriend’s house. Her dad is a big wine-o, and opened a 1985 Napa Valley Cab Sauv. I was hooked and have spent more on wine since than in the last 3 years combined!

QOTD: I moved from Washington St to Kentucky. Needless to say, the wine selection isn’t quite what I was accustomed to. I’m from KY, but really got into wines in WA. Just going to the grocery store provided an abundance of bargains…I can’t get jack here. Let’s just say it’s good that I am also a fan of bourbon!

  • I didn’t have much of a “wine life” 6 months ago. I started watching wltv (maybe a LITTLE more than 6 mo ago). I stopped being a lurker. I now have a small collection (around 10 bottles) and I attempt to try a new wine at least twice a week. Lovin it. Thanks.

QOTD: I guess the biggest change in my wine life in the past 6 months would be my new found appreciation for the “veggie” aspect in wines. I have started leaning more toward the veggie in recent months, but I still enjoy a good fruit bomb every now and then.

Great Show! And yes, you certainly do rule….

QOTD; The biggest change in my wine life over the past 6 months has been my concerted effort to drink at least a 1 glass a day. It had done wonders for my pallet. I highly recommend it to any wine lover. Constant tasting, constant training, just like when you used to practice for a sport as a kid.

QOTD: The biggest change for me is actually getting into wine. I had drank some cheap stuff from time to time when traveling with the company I used to work for and on occasion tasted some mighty fine wines and got to have some wines while in Italy, but I am truly a newbie. I am trying my best to learn because one day about 6 months ago to be honest I woke up and decided I wanted to get into the wine making business and am now trying to learn as much about it as possible and taste and learn as much about all the wines already out there as possible.

  • Ed P

It’s goda be the sniffy sniff baby! Broke my nose four time playing rugby. Now I get 80% on my air intake in my left nostril but have zero sense of smell in that bad boy. Now I plug that part of the plumbing for the sniffy sniff and I am enjoying the vino way more.

    Keep the thunder rolling G!

    Yo Gary, great show today!
Nice Victor Borge shout-out with the comma!
QOTD: 6 months ago, I barely knew the difference between a white and a red. Now I have a collection of about 14 wines. Thanks for all the education, dude.

My biggest wine changing experience has been simply not buying the same bottle of wine twice, and routinely trying new and different wines.

  • Actually I am drinking less wine, but more pricy wine. Meaning I am going for the $10 to $15 range for better quality then the $3 to $8 dollar range that I am acustomed to. There are some geat bargains out there from CA and Chile that I like. I get greater “utils” from cheaper wine because I don’t expect as much. Pricier wines often don’t deliver. *A â??utilâ? is defined as a unit of value in economics. Great show as usual. You rule Gv. Thanks.
