Purely coincidental that I am drinking a Dark Horse pinot as I watched this. Found it on clearance at Tar-jay. That should have been all the clue I needed, but curiosity got the better of me. Meh is the best I can give it. But, I tried something new! 😉

😆 That intro to the Gisele was priceless….we have all known those ladies 😉
QOTD – none…..never had any….but in my defense our selection blows!

Adrian Murrell. He was pretty good for a little while wasn’t he?

QOTD: Drink a lot of OP’s but for some reason, none lately. I think that last one was the basic Adelsheim out at a restaurant, the ’05 I think.

Happy Valentines Day! We’re drinking our favorite Merlot…should have had it yesterday…but hey, we really like it.

QOTD: Firesteed. We like it and it’s in our price range.

GV, Some crazy stuff today. LOL. No Oregon Pinot here. Can’t beat the Burgs.

  • I’ve totally had some Oregon Pinot, and it was awesome. I can’t remember the name of it, but it was darn tasty. Willamette Valley, totally good, and I even brought a bottle to my Uncle’s house for Christmas.

  • Nice focus today, GV!

I’m definitely a big Oregon Pinot noir fan.

  • QOTD: I Only drink PinOt from the big O. Consistent and still earthy almost Old world. With wines, the great out doors, awesome fishing, and Portland music scene, I would live in Oregon if it didn’t rain so damn much.

Would love to see Cali Pinot and Burgs go toe to toe here. Sonoma Coast and Santa Barbra bring some serious thunder.

  • Christopher J

Of course I drink Pinot! Can’t remember one from Oregon, but the last Pinot I had was called Marq I think, from Cali.

    Happy V-Day Gary & family!

Good episode. Me too – Slim Jim’s 10 times a week as a kid.

QOTD: 2005 Benton Lane Pinot Noir. Excellent!

QOTD for GV: I can go to the corner wine store and buy a Buffalo Sabres Wine. Has there EVER been a NYJets Wine??

  • 2004 Domaine Drouhin Laurene` Oregon Pinot Noir (65 bones) is awesome!

    winemaker’s notes:
The 2004 Laurène is vibrantly seductive with aromas of fresh cherry & red berry, and a floral mix of cherry blossoms and rose petals. These sensations follow through on the palate, with added clove and spice character. Firm, layered tannins coat the mouth, but the real stars are the rich, velvety touch and well rounded, persistent finish.

    And yeah…it’s like that!

QOTD: having a Lemelson Vineyard, Jerome Reserve, 2003 tonight for VD dinner.

Do like Willamette Valley pinots, but am not convinced make the best Pinots in USA.

QOTD: Last Oregon Pinot we drank was Ken Wright 2001 Freedom Hill-delicious! However, I can’t say enough about a small vineyard from Sonoma that has spectacular Pinot Noirs- Halleck Vineyard. Their Halleck Vineyard Estate Pinot gets raves, but I love love love the Three Sons Cuvee. So beautifully balanced and silky – you have to try. Check them out and tell Jen I said hi! http://www.halleckvineyard.com

Last pino was a Pepperwood. I bought 1/2 case for about the price of the Lachini. Purchased one made in Argentina today, and will, hopefully, enjoy it this weekend. I’m on the east coast, and Oregon is many dollars away. Nice show, and have a happy………………….

QOTD: Being from the west coast, Alaska, I have had ALOT of Oregon wines lately. Most of the restaurants in my town have several Oregon wines available. A couple of popular ones here are Pinot Noir from Domaine Drouhin, Williamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir and Yahill Valley Vineyards.

They hate Californians up their in the “Arkansas of the Northwest” so I boycott all wines from Oregon, good as they may be. California is making some decent Pinot’s in the Carneros and Monterey areas. Slim Jim’s and Peppered Beef Jerkey with an Orange Crush, now that’s a meal.

After your intro, I’m thinking you should quit the wine business and become a pro wrestler announcer, or something.

QOD–Ore’-a-gun pinots have skyrocketed so much in the last few years, I have lost total interest. They are so hot in WA, they are out of stock for quite a few months then released too soon to get back on the shelf.

the last oregon PN I drank was Ken Wright Cellars/Guadalupe Vineyards, 1994.

Ken is the Caymus of Oregon IMHO in that no matter what the vintage is like,
he never misses in making the most of what Nature presented that year.
