QOTD – I’m not ‘waiting’ for anything. Even if a $25-30 wine is a value, it still isn’t cheap, but a mental note has been made!

    White Wine!!!!! Yaaaaaayyy!!!!1

  • Try to think with me for a moment out of the box ๐Ÿ˜‰

On today’s show, specially in the last bottle, you seemed so impressed, you said words like “very pretty”, “brilliant fruit”, “gourgeousness”, “so on the nose”, “stablishes an interesting wine level”,”great acidity”, “very funky”, “the greatest fish and wine…”, “i’m so excited”, etc.
but you scored only 93+… haven’t you been to though with your on pal? I believe you will never find a 100pts wine if you don’t accept that perfection is not a point to reach, but a road to travel through…

I mean, if you relly like a wine like these why not scoring them higher notes? Getting to a 100… break free!!! spread the thunder!!!

Istead of stablishing a note, try to use stars or glasses in a 1-to-5 scale, like Gambero Rosso. Maybe you can do that just for a change… for fun at least.

Either way, I score based on my own palate and taste. I like you and the show and keep on with the good work.

  • Can’t say I have a had a St. Aubin recently but it is and will be tasted very soon. I still can’t understand why people can’t justify spending that much on a white but a red is no problem. Weird.

  • QOTD: I’ve had the Vincent Girardin in a couple of vintages, as well as a dozen other St. Aubins. I have to agree, there is some great quality and incredible value in these wines.

I’ve tried Pacalets Saint-Aubin, and the wine was brilliant.

It always kills me though, to see the wine library prices! I know you are a big store, so you buy bigger amount, and thus get better prices. But i think that because of your huge sales, you profit less from each bottle sold, than your average retailer. Now link that with the low low value of the dollar, and us europeans just wanna jump on the queen mary and bring it all back home!

I have tried them. Not a big Chard fan as a rule, but found it to have some nice minerality to it. Another great under the readar Burgundy area for reds (Pinot) is Auxey-Duresses. Some real bargains in premier cru there as well.

QOTD: I’ll definitely check out St. Aubin although I haven’t seen it on the shelves here locally. What’s up with all that scratching?

  • QOTD – I haven’t drank one yet but I have a St. Aubin in the cellar, Chรƒยขteau Philippe-le-Hardi En Vesvau 2005 (from Chateau de Santenay). Was planning on holding onto it maybe for another year.

  • Gary, if I was “just hanging with Mott” I think the wine would be all the more special. You’ve got great people working for you!

QOTD: I’m waiting till I can get to the store and pick me up a bottle of St. Aubin! Thanks to you, I tried my first Meursault last week. Thanks for helping me learn about cool wine places!

  • GV, thanks for the schooling on St. Aubin. Looking forward to trying one. (Because not looking forward to spending 3x the price on a Meersault.)

Whatever happened to the Link It Up, Mott! tee-shirts? Still working on that re-design? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I’ve never had a St. Aubin but now I’ll be on the look out.

    Nice show Gary.

QOTD: The only thing holding me back, prior to the show, was ignorance of the region. Thanks, AGAIN, for dropping knowledge on the net and helping to expand my wine horizons.
