Hell yeah I remember Kiddie City, and it wasn’t just in Jersey, I had one near me in Baltimore growin up. It definitely beat toy-r-us.

I’ve had a pinot gris ROSE from Reuilly in Loire. Had a gelatin thing going on in the nose. Neat to try, but I wouldn’t buy it.

qotd1:Unless Doc Brown returns my call, I doubt I’ll be able to make it
qotd2: had a lucien albrecht cuvee romanus 2005 that brought serious q.p.r.

  • Great show, got to get out and try some Pinot Gris/Grigio

QOTD: 1. I can’t make it, I’m going to the IndyCar race at Homestead/Miami that day. If something like that happens again I’ll be able to plan better though and fly in.

    2. I haven’t had either. It’s tough for a CKC saving up for Med School in the fall. Every time I go home I buy wine for my family (with their money) and this’ll definitely go on the list!

  • Sassodoro

QOTD1. I wish I could make it, but I can’t get away from work.

QOTD2. I’ve had a bunch of good ones, most recently Italian Pinot Grigio’s from Ermacora and from Marco Furlan (a.k.a. Castelcosa). Probably my all-time favorite was an Alsatian Pinot Gris: Lucien Albrecht 2005 “Cuvée Romanus.” Delicious. Had notes of ginger, green tea, and ginseng.

  • QOTD #2: Favorite PG? Milbrandt Pinot Gris, Columbia Valley, WA . . . can drink it for days. Great with a raw stinky sheep’s milk cheese (I love cheese too!)

QOTD #1: Can’t make it this time, party down without me.

  • Hey Gary,

QOTD1: I am really, really going to try to be there for the party on 3/29. I am coming from Miami FL, so I can’t say for sure yet. I’ll tell you for sure soon… if so please hook me up with 2 raffle tickets…

QOTD2: I don’t really have a favorite Pinot Grigio, but I really liked the one you had on free shipping a couple of weeks ago… Fantinel Borgo Tesis

Anyways… looking forward to the party and the anniversary pack… I think it arrived today

    Ciao

GV, QOTD 1- I wish I could come up from Florida to hang but I am using my time off for The Taste Of Washington in April out in Seattle. 2- As a Certified Sommelier and in the Wine Retail Business and nicknamed “The Mayor Of Oregon”…I am always going to recommend to my Clients that for the most part Oregon Pinot Gris is the way to go my personal favorite from 2006 is Erath at $14 88 Pts Wine Spec. Even though Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio are made from the same grapes…I don’t think it is a fair Match-Up. Italian Pinot Grigio is Made In A Completely Different Style as you can see by the color of The Italian Pinot Grigio and the color of the Dark Bottle which probably indicates that the Wine Has Seen Some Oak where the Oregon Pinot Gris is made in Textbook Style for the Varietal…A Light Crisp Fruit Foward, Great Acidity Wines and more Sugarfied. Pinot Gris is not supposed to be waxy and a middleweight like a Rhone Viogner. So Oregon Winemakers produce Pinot Gris in the Alsatian Style and Italians do their own thing….and My Pal when it wants a Light Crisp, Honeydew Melon, Refreshing Glass of White Wine with crisp Acidity is always 100% Of The Time going to choose and recommend for other people’s Pals Oregon or Alsatian Pinot Gris and Not Italian Pinot Grigio. Today’s Rumble was like a Middlewieght Boxer going up against a Featherweight…same sport…different class…not a fair comparison!

There is ne’re a Saturday when I do NOT make an appearance at WL, but as it happens I will be out of town on a college visit with my daughter. Oh the injustice!
But, as our captain knows – family first!

    Enjoy everyone!

Anyone know any good spots in Pittsburgh?

  • QOTD: I am planning on being therem if my rehearsal schedule will allow!!!

QOTD2: need to try some first…

Unable to attend the party. Maybe it is time for another contest and the winner will win transportation to and from Wine Library. ArrowLeaf has a stunning Pinot Gris.

  • GV – Can’t make the 29th dude. Conference that day. Love to drink some wine and visit the WL (and bring something back to Boston) – but have to get school by some peers. QOTD2 – I don’t have a favorite PG! Better look into that…

QOTD 1: no sorry, won’t be there in the Garden State for the WL gathering. Wish I could. #2, I know I have had both but cant say I have a single favorite. Will keep and eye out for the Chehalem next time we’re doing spicy asian or thai.

Like the format the shows Gary and love the cheese tastings. Making me hungry for sure.

Is there a little patch of NJ woods near the WL that’s adjacent to someone’s backyard where we can hang out and build a discreet campfire, grill up some meat, swill wine and find Schaefer beer cans from the seventies?

Although, I probably won’t be there since my wife will be on the verge of birth or have recently given birth.

QOTD. I’d have loved to attend, but unfortunately South Florida is too far away to try to make it. 🙁 I already travel enough as it is during the week…

QOTD2. Friuli is my favorite source of PG these days. But I have to admit, I probably don’t drink enough of it.
