Hell yeah I remember Kiddie City, and it wasn’t just in Jersey, I had one near me in Baltimore growin up. It definitely beat toy-r-us.

I’ve had a pinot gris ROSE from Reuilly in Loire. Had a gelatin thing going on in the nose. Neat to try, but I wouldn’t buy it.

qotd1:Unless Doc Brown returns my call, I doubt I’ll be able to make it
qotd2: had a lucien albrecht cuvee romanus 2005 that brought serious q.p.r.

  • I have been waiting for the Gris vs Gigio epp, but you should have done classic France vs Italy.

QOTD: Favorite Gris was the house wine in a cafe in Alsace. Drank wine all up and down the valley and the best one was served in a carafe. Dont know the producer, town, vineyard, or vintage. Favorite Grigio J. Hoffstater. Alto Aldige, Trentino, and Friulli only for the Italian style P.Gri.

Bonus round: I remember the kitty city commercials. Thats old school, right around the time PlayLand burned down… like five different times.

QOTD1 Wish I could be ther but have to teach Chemistry fo aspiring AP students.
QOTD2= Had many Pinot Gris while tasting in Oregon one summer- most are not memorable. Years ago on Long Island we’d drink lots of Pinot Grigio on warm summer evenings- ah brings back many good memories! But have not had any lately.
A fun show even if the cheese and the ham stole the show!

Wish I could come all the way out. But I live in Illinois, and my job wouldn’t like me going out to hang with the competition 😉

I haven’t had too many good Pinot Gris, but I like Lageder’s stuff in Italy, and O’Reily’s in Oregon (I think thats the second label of something…)

  • latraviata

I love pinot grigio with fish or Thai food. My favorite was a $10 bottle of Aurora from Italy. I have not been able to locate another bottle, but it was one of those $100 bottles of wine for only $10.

    QOTD: No. Grigio.
That cheese looked really tasty, but at the end it looked like you took a $20 bite.

QOTD1: Can’t make it. Already had plans to run a 5K with friends and family that day.
QOTD2: No single family favorite PG, yet. Wife favors lighter, crisp pinot grigios from Italy. I go more for Or-a-gun pinot gris with a bit more body and some pear + apple action. So every so often we try a couple new under $20s to see if we can find one that’s a winner for both of us. Our next PG head to head will be Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Gris vs. Fantinel Tesis Pinot Grigio.

  • cma82

QOTD1: No! I can’t because you moved the date! ((angry face))

QOTD2: I like the Trimbach reserve pinot gris, i haven’t had a ton because I avoided the pinot grigios like the plague until I found the wonderful concentrated ones

    March 29th, baby!

How can I say no to a wine library party that’s on my birthday? I’ll be there from North Jersey, but also dragging a friend who’ll be up visiting from Fla, and hopefully a few city dwellers. Still trying to spread that thunder to them all.. I have a feeling that once they walk into the place, they’ll all be sold.

  • KVolk

    QOTD1: No sorry
QOTD2: None but I have two to try now

GV love the set up today. pour at the beginning compare and contrast great way to do the show…

  • QOTD: Of course I will be there, as well as some family and co-workers.

I had the Nec-otium after your tasting and liked it. Then I bought 2 cases for our Christmas party at work (along with a case of Nero D’Avola).
