QOTD: 2001 Buoncristiani OPC Napa Claret….this was the first “case purchase” after I started watching WLTV (actually my 1st case purchase EVER). You actually didn’t taste this on WLTV, but sent out a video email where you tasted it. And yes, this wine definitely brings the THUNDER!! I’m down to 7 of these babies. Thanks for the good REC!

  • WooHoo a new show! And a great one too. Had some of the Freakout a few weeks back and was really suprised!

QOTD: some 2005 grenache (don’t recall the name right now) I picked up at the grocery store last night. It was a’ight…definitely not as good as the 2004 Menguante Garnacha Seleccion from the secret 4 pack.

Hey welcome back Gary. Good to see you in the drivers seat.
QOTD: I mentioned this one in a separate email to you recently. 2005 Villa Sorono Pinot Noir. For $7.99, good QPR. Hey how about a wristband?

QOTD. The last wine I had was the 1996 Drei Donna – Notturno in Fa Maggiore, Sangiovese from the Forli region in Emilia Romagna. It was a nice drink, silky and with plenty of nice sour cherry, though probably should have been drunk a couple of years back.

Last wine I drank was the ’04 L’ecole No.41 Cabernet. I have had this before but as always this wine brought serious thunder to the table, great pure fruit, well-integrated oak and a relatively long finish. Not terribly cheap at around 25-30 bucks but well worth it to me (and better than anything out of Cali in that price point)

Also, just FYI that CMS was a 2006, don’t think it was mentioned or listed, but it was visible on the bottle. To me not as good as the 2005 but certainly worth a taste at the price point.

QOTD: With a lot of searching (and a lot of luck) I was able to get my hands on 1/2 a case of Phillip Hills ’05 Pinot Noir. Very Good Stuff!!!!

Glad you are back in the saddle!!

I know Thursdays are the big thing now, but my friends and family always get together on Wed&Sun to eat and taste different wines. And it’s usually only one or the other, not both in one week for me at least… Happy to see all these projects popping up though!! Lots of fun stuff to do out there now days : )

The last wine I had was a 2004 La Chablisienne Vieilles Vignes Chablis. Kinda neat. It wasn’t stellar, but it was sort of a flinty-citrus flavour profile. Definitely worth a try. I also had a malbec last night that rocked the manure notes. I was pretty surprised to find those notes, and that I didn’t mind them at all.
