Just tried the new sonoma coast release of kosta browne. Brought some thunder. Not worth the $60 I paid to have it shipped here but a good wine. A little too hot. Thanks for coming back GV. Dont stopp scoring, -D

2005 Casa Nuestra (Napa Valley) Merlot, it was for our dinner club, the theme was food from movies, so I brought a Merlot…luckily noone kicked me out or left when I pulled the bottle out of my wine tote. I enjoyed it, and it was even better the following night.

    Welcome Back Gary!

QOTD: Wellington Vineyard 2002 Reserve Syrah – Loved this wine so much I had to call the vineyard’s wine library to beg for more!

QOTD: I had the 2005 Rhone Rebel Côtes du Ventoux GSM on Monday (and finished it off today). It was alright, didn’t bring the thunder, not something I would buy again but I enjoyed drinking it.

  • Jprva

QOTD: Rondel Brut La Pura Raza. It brought some serious thunder for 8 bones. Can I have a wrist band now? This would make all three for me!

QOTD: King Estate Pinot Gris 2006. It was good, not thunderific. The Domaine version of the King Estate DEFINITELY brings the thunder.

    Welcome back Gary !
QOTD: 2004 Haut Brisson …. couldnt help but try it after watching it on here, scored it 90pts and then ordered a couple more 🙂

  • Palmer

QOTD: Neil Ellis Pinotage Stellenbosch 2006. This was a VaynerPAZZZZZ, but it was really interesting, because it’s the first time I’ve really tasted tobacco in wine. And it was IN YOUR FACE with TOBACCO. On the nose and the palate, just straight Beech Nut chewing tobacco, really obnoxiously. Almost couldn’t finish the glass, but now I want to go buy a bottle so that I can make my friends taste it and train their palates…

QOTD: 2005 Douro Carm from Portugal! Brought the thunder big time!!

From Domenica (the wife): 2004 Chinon Les Chiens-Chiens: Very different! Reminded me of something burning on my grandfather’s farm in Southern Italy…very nostalgic…not sure I’d want to do it again! But fun the first time.

I am a (former I guess) lurker who is a member of the CKCs so the last wine I had was this $6 2005 Laboure-Roi Petit Bistro Chardonnay. Looking forward to TTT tomorrow and picking up a mystery pack.

  • QOTD – Viader, the proprietary red. Certainly not an everyday wine but a fantastic product from and great Napa family. The thunder was delivered.

  • Susan

Gary- Are you REALLY BACK??? WOW!!!!!! 🙂

  • Good to see you back. The last wine that I had and I’m still having was a 2005 Pascual Toso from Argentina a Cabernet and I would say it did not bring the thunder like I had hoped. Although it was nice to have while watching the Thunder Show. I believe it was a $10 bottle if my memory serves me well.

  • Dan Mc

Great episode! Looking forward to santaGV.

QOTD: 2006 Domaine Sainte Leocadie Minervois Fernand Averoux (your recommendation.) Very interesting, definitely enjoyed the experience, although overall I’d call it a pazz.

2004 Conn Creek Cabernet Franc. Thunder paired with grilled filet steak – on its own it was nothing to shout about.

  • He’s baaaaaack! Glad to see you all pumped up. I needed it.

QOTD: ’06 Witness Tree Chainsaw Pinot from Oregon and it brought the thunder! Very nice wine.

Glad you’re back and on fire, GV. QOTD: 2006 Pago de los Capellanes Joven Ribera del Duero. Good thunder for 15 bones. Liked the 2005 better, but the 06 Pago Joven is a great house wine. Before that got into 2006 Álvaro Castro, Dão from Portugal. BIG THUNDER also good price. Becoming a big Portugal red fan.

I’m waiting for a shipment of Pol Roger NV Brut from a small store in new jersey where that crazy guy has a video blog. A STEAL AT 26 bones. I live in LA where is sells for over 30. I’m planning to load up on a lot of Euro wine now, especially the Champagne, before the price goes way up.

2006 Jacob Creek Chardonnay. Was actually pretty good. I usually stick with reds but am trying to expand my palate. Also recently tried an 02 Chateau ste Michelle Chardonnay that I though completely missed the mark. Definately a paz on that one.
