2006 Leth Gruner Veltliner Wagram. It brought the thunder with a lowercase “t.” Nice structure, solid typicity, the best (and cheapest) from a Gruve tasting I attended last Saturday.

QOTD: I’m drinking it now – Porter Creek 2004 Carignane Angeli Old Vine (Alexander Valley)- $16.00 retail. Dusty, vermouth (?)- like nose, tastes like raspberry, dried figs, rose petal, herbal-minty, reminds me of Campari (that aperitif that was so popular at one time). Very smooth. We’re really loving it. We had it without food. It worked out fine.

QOTD: Chalone Valley 2005 Chardonnay. Quite good. Very interesting how the sugar dances around the sides of your tongue but not over sweet.

2005 Spy Valley Gewürztraminer from New Zealand

Did it bring the thunder? eh.

A white wine from Bordeaux, it was one of the worst wines I have had lately.

QoTD: 2006 Bitch from down under + 2005 Peacock Ridge fruit bomb + a dud BV cab…. yes… 3 bottles amongst the 3 of us celebrating family from Hawaii last nite. *hick* 😉

Last bottle I had was Murrieta’s Well Zarzuela 2003. Mild thunder was brought into my mouth, and I was satisfied with the free bottle I took home from work.

The 95 Rutherford Hill Reserve Cabâ?¦brought the thunder. Was not confident based upon the cork and the initial sour nose, but after getting a little air, it rocked. Chicago Third Thursday in 22 hours!

QOTD: I had the 2006 Guillaume Gros El Nino Loco Cotes Du Luberon (from free.winelibrary a few weeks ago) and LOVED it. Seriously GV, this wine confirmed that I am still a NEW world fan. Great wine, definitely brought the thunder.

QOTD: 2005 Earthquake Zin from Lodi, and yes it brought the thunder. 15.9% alcohol but was held in check by the beautiful and powerful fruit. Definately need to pair it with a huge rare rib eye steak marinated in a horseradish sauce though.

Had the Leeuwin Ausi Riesling I picked up from free.winelibrary.com. It’s great, has a very grapefruit-esque taste to it… add a little grass, lime, and rubber and BAM.

QOTD: Cameron Hughes Lot 60 Cabernet. It brought the thunder.

Pedroncelli 2005 Mother Clone Vineyards Zinfandel

I had a small taste, but with my cold right now, I can’t be sure if it is bringing the thunder or not!

QOTD: The last wine I had was the Tokaji from the Secret 4-pack and it was awesome!

Sauvion 2006 Saumur-Champigny. It was a pazz.

We were drinking Yalumba Barossa Shiraz for dinner, and it brought the thunder. At 12 bones was a good qpr. Keep up the good work.

QOTD: 2006 Qupe Bien Nacido. Really good. It would have been even better at last year’s price!

AOTD: Kim Crawford 2007 Marlborough Sauv Blanc. Not bad.
