I just reviewed the other comments, and saw the comment by Lawrence Leichtman. He was absolutely right about the “dumb stage” that many CNP’s go through begining as early as its 3-4th year and lasting from 3 to 5 years. Like Lawrence, I simply wait about 10 years after vintage before I drink them to be safe (I prefer older red wines anyway, so this is not a problem for me). Gary, I have never heard much of an explanation for this phenomenom, and would love to hear what you think about its cause.

Gary this show did bring serious thunder i love it!!! Great episode i would say it is a classic.

QOTD – Coincidentally I’m planning a CNdP for easter weekend, a Clos Saint André 1995 Châteauneuf-du-Papes. Not sure what to have for white, tempted by a Turkish one I picked up last week, Diren Dörtnal 2002 Narince.
There’ll likely be one or two more as well, since my parents are visiting, but those will probably be the main ones.

UNBELIEVABLE Both the first and the third CDP’s are sold out already!!!! Now that’s fast! I new I should have watched the show last night! QOTD: I will be drinking the Mettler Petite Syrah and one of Siduri’s Pinot tonight. Tomorrow I’m going to share the Evesham Wood Pinot with my parents for Holy Saturday lunch. Then on Easter Sunday at Aunty M’s, I’ll probably be served some of my cousin’s husband’s craptacular homemade wine and the Mogen David they always keep on hand for “special occasions.” In summation, my wine list for this weekend reminds me of the first line of A Tale of Two Cities!

QOTD: Tonight I need to do a little research on Piedmont wines, so I’m eyeing up a bottle of 2003 Ceretto Zonchera Barolo. Tomorrow is a birthday celebration. We’ll start off with Le Frappe Cremant de Bordeaux, but will pair the Beef Wellington with a 2002 BV Tapestry.
