I am now a reformed lurker! I’ve come out of the shadows of subscribing via iTunes to finally post a comment. Proud viewer from Canada, been spreading the thunder since #380 or so… but gone back and caught up! Love the show! Gary, you’re a new hero of mine!

I love Allen Scott Sauv Blanc is great, but I can’t find it in Iowa too often. I also recently had a Henri Bourgeois Sauvignon Bland from the Loire that was great. I’m not sure I’ve had one that I didn’t like…now that I think about it.

awesome episode gary! I love savignon blanc! I like it better than chardonnay overall. My current favorite savignon blanc is Anakena Single Vinyard Savignon Blanc which is from the San Antonio Valley in Chile. Great body with plenty of minerality and citrus fruits and nice nose with a long finish. good stuff and at 14 bones it is a steal for the quality. Anakena makes great wines. you should seek them out Later

  • QOTD: I do really like Sauvignon Blanc. It was the first white that I really liked because of the grassy, herby profiles. Nothing wrong with a draw in this case. Have a good trip!

“WOW, that was a lot of spit”…LOL

QOTD: I like it every now and then. Currently, I am liking the Matanzas Creek SB from the Bennett valley. It is probably a wine you would rip on for being a bit too flabby (I thinking I am starting to understand your pal), but for me I appreciate the sweeter undertones to it (although a slightly higher acidity would be appreciated).

    Cheers.

QOTD: I do love sauv blanc, actually, but don’t have a particular favorite at the moment. In general, my preferences are for sancerres, but I also like those from NZ.

Fun episode, GaryV. Looking forward to meeting you, the Mottster, and mattsito this weekend. 🙂

Gary-QOTD: IF it is HOT WEATHER, yes, I WILL drink Sauv. Blanc. Otherwise, not much is consumed the other 3 months out of the year.

QOTD: Guy Chavet Menetou-Salon 2006 … he also has a slightly higher-end cuvée that I’m hearing good things about… also, there are great values in Touraine like Domaine Guy Allion.

QOTD: Ella Valley Vineyards and Yatir from Israel make great SBs, as well as Goose Bay from NZ that you had on the show about a year ago. I’ll drink them any time.

Nice show gary! I like the match ups as well. would be interesting to have a third contender from a different part of the world as well.

QOTD: I really liked a 2006 Kim Crawford from Marlbrough.. and for the price, the Firestone Sauvignon Blanc is great to load up and take to bbq’s and such

Good luck on your work travels!

QOTD: I rarely cook meat, dinner usually consists of pastas and salads, so, I end up with white wine. The trouble is, its often too sweet for my tastes. But I find I am usually safe with a Pacific Northwest (Russian River CA, OR and WA included, Napa and Sonoma not) Sauvignon Blanc.

My last Sav Blanc was a 2006 Crocker and Starr from a restaurant in the Outer Banks. It was decent, but I’m not a huge Sav Blanc fan. Normally the acidity is too high for my tastes. Low acid all day for me, baby.

Who hasn’t heard of Jericho Cotchery? The pride of the NC State Wolfpack!

Hey, Gary! This is Everett’s girlfriend. I started watching WLTV a few weeks ago (he doesn’t know) and I LOVE it. He’s got to start bringing home more wine and less beer. Take care and good luck with the business trips.
