There are lobster purist… Being from the East Coast of Canada (Prince Edward Island), where many Islanders fish lobster for a living… When I eat lobster, as long as it’s cooked perfectly in salted boiling water, I prefer just eating it straight up. Rip that meat from the shell and chomp it down without butter or lime… Some people dip it in mayo.. gag me with a spoon. Best parts of the lobster for a “purist” : body, then tail, then claws… Back in the day on Prince Edward Island before lobster was recognized as a delicacy, they used to be seen as a nuisance that got caught in the fish nets… They would just be grinded up and used for fertilizer… When my dad and his buddies were kids they used to sit outside the fish/lobster plants and just gorge themselves on the lobster bodies being thrown away as waste… Times have changed for the humble lobster…

Lol…when Gary was talking about how he was going to SHOW us how important this grape variety is (right before he sampled the first one), he was fiddling with the button on his shirt. I thought he was going to do a little “strip tease” on the show or reveal a massive Greco di Tufo tattoo on his chest.

But alas, he was just buttoning UP his shirt.

QOTD: It might be a passito or a white Valpolicella/Soave. Am going to a huge tasting and among other things they’ll be serving a Bianco Secco from the famous Amarone-producer, Quintarelli.

  • Giving me a difficult task. I’m trying to find a white from Italy I haven’t had. Have had several Greco di Tufo’s and I find the burnt rubber smell and taste in most of them and that is not a fan favorite with me. Will have to try the Vesevo as that is a nose profile that sounds good.

    Gary,
I just wanted to tell you are the man and that I really appreciate all the love and knowledge you give us. I am 21 and I have really developed my pallet by listening to your advice and trying new things, all the time. Also I have been watching for a while, like since episode 60 or so, which probley makes me the longest lurcher in Wine Library TV history. Also I am a member of the CKC and we love the show.

    QOTD:
Like Mott, i’d never heard of it. So i’m pretty sure i’ve never tried it.

I drank a new italian white wine last night.
It was an Orvieto, and it wasn’t that good. But i’ll try and try another this weekend.

Interested to hear what ideas you’ve picked for the book promotion.
