I just got a 100% tempranillo wine that was low in price and rated high so I am curious how it will taste.
QOTD: My go to cereals are cinnamon toast crunch and peanut butter crunch, keeping it healthy of course.

Another great episode. Made me feel compelled to comment. I liked the whisper “Link it up” part quite a bit.

QOTD: a local granola maker (Erin Baker’s) has a wonderful peanut butter granola. My current favorite breakfast is to put some blueberries and non-fat plain yogurt in a bowl. Top it with some of the peanut butter granola. It’s a bit like a PB&J. 🙂

BTW, I do have one of those pitchers of water in my frig. Most of the time there are a few slices of lemon or lime. Orange chunks or slices are quite nice, too. Have you ever tried putting a few thin slices of cucumber in the pitcher? A local restaurant does that, and it’s very refreshing — it’s a fun change up from the citrus.

QOTD: GV, thanks for asking what cereal I’m eating. Actually, I’ve been on the wagon, lately. On a protein kick, eschewing carbs a bit. Otherwise, I like Cinnamon Toast Crunch and I try and eat them quickly before they get too soggy. Very few people remember Clackers from the 60s…graham cracker cereal. When the oak monster in the Pago started chasing you, I immediately recalled Booberry; KaBoom came to mind, also. What wine program is complete without Grape Nuts? And for the La Linda that you liked, Kix seems aprops. Thanks for the trip down Tempranillo highway.

    Dear Gary . . .

    branflakes.

Hard to believe the spanish still over oak, I would have thought they
would have figured it out by now. That said, when they ease off on it they can produce some great wines as you know. As for tempranillo, not my favourite.

My QOTD – why do americans alway talk about wine in terms of grape vatietal?

Although white burgs are made with the chardonnay grape, you’d never call them chardonnays. They have nothing to do with chardonnay grown elsewhere.
Perhaps when comparing wines from different regions you might think about
wines that have similar characteristics – NZ whites vs chablis etc.

A very professional show as always Gary. Keep up the good work. I’ll see
if I can get my hands on some of the Cornas and Chassagne you tried earlier.

    All the best,

    Paul C.

Been a long time lurker, new to commenting. Just wanted to say the show is awesome, and thank you for the excitement and passion you share with us.

Question of the day – I’ve always loved Cinnamon Toast Crunch since I was a kid!

Interesting episode. Not a grape that I’m crazy about. But then again, I’ve never tried a tempranillo that wasn’t Spanish. QOTD Premiere Gold Mysli.

  • SQOTD – Nope, no water pitchers.

Tempranillo done well is an excellent grape, I have a soft spot for Spanish reds.

QOTD – I don’t usually eat cereals. Occasionally a bowl of muesli, but I haven’t had any branded cereals for years.

Another great 10 shows (I don’t post often enough). Tempranillo is a great wine type. I’m drinking one now! how about that?
La Linda is sold out already? wow. what a following you have!
I love oak – got to try that Florentino! ah, you gave it 55 and it is not sold out. I see i have to watch these when they post to get the wines!!! smile.

SQOD – no, I drink my water straight. Water is to hydrate, wine is to taste. :*)
QOTD – cereal – ? Cherrios. I keep things simple in the morning, so I can have complex wines in the evening. Such a simple question. duh? smile. haha.

I’ve been a lurker for a while now, but decided I should comment before watching the next episode. The last tempranillo I had was C3 by Core from Santa Barbara County.

QOTD: I get whatever organic/natural cereal that’s on sale and has some kind of honey, maple, or cinnamon flavors involved.

I love a good Tempranillo! I have tasted a number from spain but not the Argentine. I think I will try it. I have 2 acres of Tempranillo in its 2nd leaf and hope to produce some nice Tempranillo and blends here in Oklahoma.

QOTD – Kellog’s Frosted Flakes. An old standby. Still the best.

Nothin worse than an Oak Bomb. There is some killer Tempranillo going on in Washington by the way. Seven Hills, Cayuse, ect.

QOTD: I wish it was Fruity Pebbles(so good, especially the specialty ones like Very Berry, you know what Im talkin about),unfortunately the wife is a health nut and Im stuck with the Safeway Eating Right Sweetened Bran Flakes with cranberries and almonds. Meh.

Just bought the book, cant wait to read it.

GV, your intensity was “on-point” for this epsd.
sqotd: lemon water for days… lemon & lime and club soda. Try Bitters & club soda. Try the bitters and club soda.

    qotd: Wheaties with added raisins.
