Qotd:Can’t pick 1 but the Lucien Albrecht Cuvee romanus is a helluva QPR. I’d pay double the price for it

I am new to wine, a friend turned my on to the thunder show and I admire your passion for vino. I have never had a pinot gris but would love to try some after this head to head.

I’ve had Pinot Gris from Oregon that wasn’t great either. It’s a conspiracy!

No, never had a Pinot Gri. Isn’t Pinot Gri called Grauburgunder in Germany?

I have never had a Pinot Gri. I have been very locked in on reds though trying a lot of new stuff. Just haven’t gotten to the whites yet.

    I really enjoyed this format.

QOTD – The only (and so by default the best) PG I have had is the 2005 Waterstone Carneros Pinot Grigio. I enjoyed it but was not overwhelming in my opinion.

  • Eltrainlane

I have never rocked the Pinot Gris. Totally excited to try it though. Ya killin it Gary!

  • JoeShmo

    QOTD: ive only had one
BUT DEFINITELY going to try these two out, really sounds like something that would make my palette very happy. great head to head

QOTD: Trimbach is a good go to Pinot Gris. I also really like A to Z from Oregon. Duck Pond can be good (the current vintage (06)is a little hot though). I had an amazing one from Germany once…can’t remember the producer though.

  • QOTD: Haven’t had too many, but the Esca 2006 Pinot Grigio is the best one of that variety that I can remember. I’ve had some really lame, flavorless, watery Italian Pinot Grigios but those were by the glass in restaurants that didn’t have much to offer. Oh, and Santa Margarita, which was pretty lame too.

Haven’t had a pinot gris in a long time. It could have been the Wilm or a Zind Humbrecht.

QOTD: Pinot gris/grigio are low on my list of wines to try. I did have one I liked once though. Went to a wine tasting this afternoon and ran into Scott of Gruet. He really wants to talk to you about that misunderstanding some of your young Vayniacs had at the Gruet Winery. He’s taking it very seriously. He e-mailed you but all he got back was a bunch of videos.

The Mad Money – Jim Cramer episode was fun. He must have been your older brother in a previous life.

2006 Borgo. Nice deck sipper if it ever warms up
