I agree with sgevurtz. This episode makes me want to see some double blinds. I not so much interested in Gary getting the varietals correct as seeing what he scores wines without the price affecting his thought process.

Maybe the mystery wine was the 69-point 2005 Convenant?

Wow, I’d like to give you the benefit of the doubt as you’ve had no problem panning wines in the past reguardless of the consequences, but this seems shady to me. What I first thought was that they dropped the bags and realized they had the show theme wrong and were a little embarrased. I don’t see why though, preconceived notions are a fact of life and to act as though any of us are immune from them is just crazy. That being said I think many of us would kill to see a double blind episode to see some pure analysis and reaction. Maybe Ian thought it would be funny to put the vayniac cab in there because wine #5 seemed to smell like a wine that was still being formed.

WHAA??? Ok, so originally I was going to leave a comment about my love for the stemless Ridels. (I’m most likely to break the stem anyways.)

But seriously….the producers of Lost could learn a thing or two from this suspence. Was this real? The timing of the cut off seems a little too perfect.

I was at the SEED conference in Chicago. Nice.

I looked up your blog because of that conference and ended up watching the blind taste test of the 6 cabs under 10 bones.

Really did not like the endingâ??sniffy-sniff, sucky-sucked.

Thanks for giving out the link for the full video in today’s episode. I was really disappointed with the Red Diamond Merlot too.

QOTD: I got the Aquinas 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (Don Sebastiani & Sons) as a gift and was really happy with it. It had some good minty flavors going on in addition to more traditional Cab. flavors.

Since I watched I might as well give the QOTD:

Best Cab under $10 (well Favorite) is the Montes Cabernet Sauvignon and I’ll one up and say the best under $5 is Santa Rita Cabernet (not the 120) for 4.99 it’s disgusting value for money!

Where is the link to the full show? I would like to know what to avoid as well as what was good. Your explanation leaves us all in the dark which isn’t fair when we watched almost the full episode.
